Mermaid’s Red™ bucks the shallow mid-range red ale stereotype. Loaded with Cascade hops, it delivers a fresh floral aroma and sharp bitter notes, all while delivering a solid kick of roasted malts that fades seamlessly into a rich, chocolaty finish with hints of clove and caramel.

I actually thought this was a much better beer than the islander IPA, not sure why this scored so much lower. Pours nice dark red with a white head. Aromas of citrus Cascade hops, crystal malt and roast. Flavor is full and complex with hints of roast and chocolate coming through at the end. Well hopped all the way though with a long clinging finish. One of the best examples of a West Coast American Amber I have ever tasted. Worth the $11.99/6pack price. In stock now at Hops & Vines in Asheville.

Bottle from variety pack. Pours mahogany with little lace. Balanced bitter with caramel and spiced hop. Roasted middle and a prickly chocolate finish.

650 ml bottle poured at home. Pours reddish (touch on the orange side) with no head. Smells like caramel or toffee and malt. Tastes strongly of malt with a caramel finish. The malt is almost overpowering, which doesn't make this my favourite beer to drink. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Flaska på Monks American Bar, Stockholm. Rågig, lätt sötma. Känns ganska standard.

Bottle. Pours a clear amber beer with a thin white head on top. Aroma is extremely malty and slightly caramel-esque. Even some cookies or buttery notes in there, not sure though. Some fruit is noticeable trough the abundance of malts. Flavor is overly sweet and sugary, thick with again hints of caramel and butter. Loads of sugar in there for sure. Softly carbonated, sticky mouthfeel. Meh..

From Zombier. In Teku glass. Watching Los Soprano 2x06. Balanced, with a nice caramel touch (not too agressive) and very drinkable. May be missing a bit of punch but is still pretty enjoyable

12 ounce bottle. Mid brown and cloudy. A long lasting one finger beige layer of foam. Malts lead the aroma and are of both a red and amber. Gentle fruit. The flavor is as above. Hop bitterness comes late. It is grapefruit and citrus. Light coffee notes after that. Better with warming but never great. But then, its an Amber.

12 oz bottle. The pour is a deep ruby color, almost black with a thin off white head that falls down to a small film, leaving a decent lace. The aroma is surprisingly not bad. There is a strong maltiness and a nice sweet tropical fruitiness that I enjoy. There is a little pine on the back end as well. The flavor is really light and bland. There is a sweet malt and then it just falls off. The mouth feel is surprisingly thick and softly carbonated. The aftertaste is sweet and malty with a light tropical fruit.
