COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Mermaid’s Red™ bucks the shallow mid-range red ale stereotype. Loaded with Cascade hops, it delivers a fresh floral aroma and sharp bitter notes, all while delivering a solid kick of roasted malts that fades seamlessly into a rich, chocolaty finish with hints of clove and caramel.

I actually thought this was a much better beer than the islander IPA, not sure why this scored so much lower. Pours nice dark red with a white head. Aromas of citrus Cascade hops, crystal malt and roast. Flavor is full and complex with hints of roast and chocolate coming through at the end. Well hopped all the way though with a long clinging finish. One of the best examples of a West Coast American Amber I have ever tasted. Worth the $11.99/6pack price. In stock now at Hops & Vines in Asheville.

On tap. Pours a slightly hazy red-amber with a large, frothy, long lasting, beige head that leaves curtains of lace. Sweet aroma of roasted malt, bread, caramel, cloves, floral and citrus. Sweet flavour of bready malt, caramel, clove, roast and a hint of chocolate with a dry, hoppy, bitter pine resin finish. Light to medium body with an oily texture and soft carbonation. Tasty.

(bottle, 35.5cl) Hazy, dark amber colour with a beige and short foamy head. Dark malty, slightly roasted aroma with notes of dark and red berries, accompanied by resiny hops. Mildly bitter flavour, light to medium bodied with a moderate carbonation. Berry-fruity and slightly roasted taste with hints of bread and resin; dry-ish mildly bitter hoppy and fruity finish. Likeable. 09.XII.17

Pint Brewpub. Pours red funnily enough. Foam head. Lots of malt in the aroma, some pepper. Dry taste, the sweetness nicely suppressed. A little overcarbonated for me, but a sessionable amber, good.

Tap at brewdog Camden. Pours dark red, nice and clear with a thin white head. Nose is full of grain, some mild cascade hoppy notes coming through. Taste is malty upfront, biscuit, caramel, toasty with s minor bitter finish. Mild to moderate carbonation, decent mouthfeel from the specialty malts. Solid red but not remarkable

Very malty aroma, fresh malts and a bit of barley. Nice red coloring to fit style. Taste is a touch of rye bread, some hops and yeast all sink in, but slightly more ipa than red. Palate is good, a touch heavy. Tap at brewery

(Coronado Mermaid’s Red Ale) Bottle 355ml at Parga, Greece. ABV 5.7% Amber colour on the body, clear, with a good sized but thin, slightly off-white head on top, average retention. The aroma has caramel, orange, light citrus, orange peel, biscuit. Taste is sweet with some caramel, toffee and hints of chocolate, orange, biscuit, light hop presence. Medium body with good carbonation. Quite good.
