Amarillo, Centennial, Columbus and Simcoe hops unite to produce an immensely floral, botanical nose and a veritable explosion of citrus and pine on the palate. With an even more obscene hop overload than our infamous Idiot IPA, its an India Pale Ale truly deserving of its imperial crown.

Pours a clear golden with a small, frothy white head. A moderate amount of lacing. Nose has a lot of resin, citrus and tropical fruits with a pleasant spiciness. Mouth is delicious. A lot of grapefruit and pineapple with caramel and some creamy malts. A lot of bitterness that lingers for a bit, but its not overpowering. Smooth finish.

Bottle from World Beer Market (Sake no Taniguchi). Big, substantial hop nose, with citrus, peach bomb, grass, and grapefruit. Hazy light orange/amber color. Very citrusy initial, caramel, alcohol presence, fruity sweetness, but finishes fairly dry. Medium-heavy body and very pleasant on the tongue. Super-hopped stuff, but doesnt offend the palate. Nice blend and balance. Great!

Thin bright white head of fine bubbles. Nicely balanced hops and malts aroma. Some pineaple, spruce, white pepper and bready malts. Color is medium gold. Good balance in the flavor too. More bready malts, spicy hops, lemon and some dry grass. Decent bitterness in the flavor and lingers for a little while. Light alcohol presence and warming. Clean finish. A very good IIPA.

UPDATED: JUL 16, 2016 Bionda limpida, schiuma molto grossolana bianca. Aroma ottimo e invitante, floreale e fruttato. Buona al palato con ingresso maltato, frutta esotica, un bel bouquet di sapori di pino e appena agrumati, solo il finale appena amaro. Carbonazione non elevata. Dipa eccellente.

Pours a clear gold. Has a very faint floral hop aroma. Taste is very light for a double IPA - faint floral hops, caramel and some malts and fruits. Sweet aftertaste with some bitter notes, but not impressed.

Bottle shared at a tasting at Alexey & Raphaelas place. Clear golden with a white head. Aroma of stale hops, a bit piney and citric. Flavor has a bit of sweetish malt, and lots of bitter hops, piney, citric, and a bit stale. Medium-bodied. Could be fresher, but still quite nice.

On draft at Sharp Edge Brasserie. Poured clear orange with thin head, thick lace. Citrus, grassy notes. Relatively smooth. Solid, yet unspectacular.

Had this on tap at Kaseys. Pours a solid orange clear hue, with a thin white head and even lacing. The aroma is of a smooth mango and the taste belies this double IPA, smooth and citrusy.

Another Coronado IPA - something I have fond memories of, so this cant go wrong... Thick, lacing, frothy, egg-white, moussy head over a clear, deep and warm old gold colored beer. Refreshing and dank aroma of bergamot, lots of lime, candied lemon, rosewater, pink grapefruit flesh, tropical orchids, biscuit, overripe smoky papaja and even cigarette tobacco somewhere, green olive, sweet curry, gingerbread, toasted sweet onion, fresh green seaweed, soap, hints of lychee, yellow kiwi, banana passion fruit (which actually exists!), cashew nut, overripe mango, pink pepper. Lush but expectedly clean fruitiness in the onset, sourish and sweetish flavors well positioned against each other with impressions of passion fruit, yellow melon, apricot and papaja, softish carbo, very light salty edge but still overcome by the sweet and sour fruit character so not disturbing at all here, smooth and oily malt body, biscuity, slightly caramelly and carrying the fruit flavors onwards, ending in a beautifully aromatic hop finish: a retronasal feast of tropical flowers, sweet mediterranean onion, soft citrus and mango, gently but effectively bittering the back of the mouth and throat, resinous, peppery and grapefruit peel-like but nowhere harsh, lasting for a long time nevertheless and pairing very well with the ongoing biscuity malts and upcoming, warming, oude jenever-like alcohol in the end. This is a very pretty, aromatic, elegant and gracious example of a DIPA, it beautifully showcases its combo of hop superstars in a well-crafted environment of juicy, biscuity malts and warming alcohol and in that sense completely delivers what one expects from the style. Another lovely beer from what I am becoming to regard as an American IPA specialist brewery.
