Pours deep black with huge and compact brown head, very nice appearance. Nose is roasty and milky. Aromas are roasted malts, caramel, dry fruits, dark fruits (sour cherry), coffee, dark chocolate, alcohol. Low carbonation, full body. Long roasty and alcoholic finish. A bit unbalanced, because of the strong alcoholic taste, but a very nice brew anyway!

I bought this bottle at the "cave à bulles" Paris. I drank it with one friend at Petit-Lancy. This beer is a well balanced imperial stout dark body, brown foam rather low carbonation but it is normal fir the style. The taste is with roasted malt, hop, vanilla, bitter chocolate, licor, powerful in the mouth.

Bottle 0,33l, aged for 2 years, shared with CanCrusher. Pours almost black color with thin creamy light brown head. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee, nuts, chocolate and cognac. Tastes of dark chocolate, relatively sweet with rich roasted maltiness, nuttiness and warming mouthfeel. Alcohol is present, although well hidden, while finish is quite bitter, but still very balanced beer. Full body, thick creamy texture and soft carbonation in palate. Tzar...

Bottle 0,33L. Thanks Kita for sharing. Very dark brown, almost black color with small, creamy, dark brown head. Aroma of roasted nuts, dark chocolate, cognac, strong coffee. Taste is bitter, chocolate dominates. A touch of alcohol, that warms you a little. Full body, oily/creamy mouthfeel. Excellent beer!

100 IBU Lot 1602. Zwart bier met weinig beige schuim. Geur: licht gerookt, geroosterde mout en wat alcoholisch. Smaak: koude espresso, zwarte chocolade en wat bittere groene hop. Romig dik mondgevoel. Afdronk: lang bitter en droog.

Keg @ Palais de la Biere, Lyon. Deep brown with a tight tan head. Nose of charred grain, a bit of soy sauce. Chocolate syrup. Flavor is sweet and very assertive. Chocolate syrup. Hot booziness. Roasted coffee. Earthy char. Oily and substantial. Rich. OK effort, but lacks the control and cohesion that seperate the best in the style.

330ml bottle at Matt’s. Pours a very dark brown with a strong dark beige head. Aroma is similar to pop drinks with roasted malt notes. Taste is oily, burnt malt, dark fruits. Roasted, smoky, burnt malt aftertaste. Very good.

UPDATED: JUL 1, 2016 330mL bottle, pours an oily black with a small brown head. Aroma brings out toasted malt, light sweetness, and a little cocoa. Flavour is fairly robust, with roasted malt, dry cocoa and light-medium sweetness. Well-rounded, fairly robust and quite drinkable. Solid stuff.

courtesy of Laurent Mousson - black beer under a chaotic foam left; roasted aroma of cacao, walnuts and wheat; full-bodied, oily and thick; very bitter and tasty; long roasted aftertaste of cacao, black chocolate and nuts - powerful and good
