On the palate this silky smooth ale is predominantly malty, with smoky, spicy and citrusy notes, and a long, lingering finish that is lightly tart and malty.

Bottled. Dark amber coloured, big beige foamy head. Weak aroma of malts and some grainy notes. Also kind of sweet. Flavour first malty then it turns sweet. Pretty boring in my opinion, I had expected more.... Kind of bitter/sourish aftertaste.

UPDATED: DEC 25, 2008 Pours a dark brown. Much darker than I expected. Smallish head. There isn’t a very strong aroma, but what is there is primarily spicy. Flavor is spicy and malty, with a hint of warming alcohol. There is also a definite citrus character. The spicy flavor lingers and grows as an aftertaste. A pretty good ale for a cold winter night.

Smells very christmas spicy. A nice spicy dubbelish strong ale, thought the alcohol doesn’t take over. Quite good, but the best is still the brown.

Bottel, 25cl. Hmmm, only 25cl. What a pity! When i was really starting to enjoy this one..... Pours a dark brown amber colour with hints of red. Huge beige head, mostly lasting. Nicely carbonated. Aroma is very complex, predominantly malty and spicy. Flavour is strong but not as good as the aroma. In fact, body is a litttle thin. It has notes of caramel, malt and coffee. A little less sweeter than i expected. A very good beer but, in my opinion, a bit over-rated.

UPDATED: DEC 25, 2006 Bottle. Dark drown, copious head, excellent head retention and lacing. Malty aroma, hint of yeast and caramel. Strong, malty flavor, with raisin, roasted and spicy hints. Slight warming. Very smooth.

whaleman (2178) - North Wales, Pennsylvania, USA - DEC 26, 2005
UPDATED: DEC 23, 2006 Mostly clear bronze body with moderate carbonation and a foamy, beige head. Nose is not particularly aromatic or interesting, mostly just suggesting caramelized brown sugar. Flavor is of currants, dried plums, and brandy. Semi-dry with herbal and woody hop flavors and substantial bitterness.

MullMan (1099) - Brooklyn, New York, USA - DEC 26, 2005
dark ruby chestnut color, mostly clear. thin creamy medium tan head. aroma is dark rum, raisins, fruit cake and malt. flavor is sweet yet dryish malty with more rummy raisin flavor. a little like cranberry orange bread too.

Black Coloring with Tan Head. Sweet Dry Malt Aroma. Sweet Dry Rye Bread. Light Citrusy. Dark Bread Comes Out Most Prominant. Nice Malty Christmas Ale.

Magjayran (1378) - Durham, North Carolina, USA - DEC 25, 2005
2005 bottle. Doesn’t look too exciting. Basic brown color with a thick tan head. Light fruity aroma with prunes and dates. Malty sweet flavor with some light fruit and citrus. Nothing spectacular but still enjoyable.

NachlamSie (3485) - Denver, Colorado, USA - DEC 25, 2005
bottle. pours a quite dark mahogany with an intense, rocky head. Aroma is spicy, full of cloves, and has a hint of coffee along with a vinous sweetness. Body is pleasantly dense. The flavor is plenty sweet and balanced by a tart spiciness. There’s some orange peel and bread in the mix. This is great for the season.
