Ingredients: Pale, Munich and Caramunich malts; Kent Goldings hops.
This is a rich, dark, joyous brew with which to celebrate the holiday season. It’s aroma of chocolate malt and spiciness is reminiscent of the wonderful smells of holiday baking in Mom’s kitchen. Silky smooth on the palate, it’s predominantly malty, with smoky, spicy and citrusy notes and a long, lingering finish that is lightly tart and malty. Bottle conditioned for a fresh, lively taste. Round and well balanced, it’s a welcome addition for holiday tables and beyond.
Sold as King’s Blue in Norway.

Deep mahogany with medium beige head. Lots of peach candy, caramel, fudge, think sweet malts, ligh gluhwein spices. Very sweet with some bitter in the finish. Medium to full bodied. Lovely stuff.

bartlebier (4214) - Belchium im Biersgau, GERMANY - JAN 14, 2018
25cl bb11/2019, BL2018 sampler. Label & RB do not mention added: liquorice, coriander, orange peel (cf. All Belgian Beers p346). - Classify under: Wallonian Xmas taste; diabetic Aldi Carolus Xmas. - - I've become allergic to and hence can no longer finish paleobelgian sugar&spicebrews like these: nose all putrid candisugars abv-amped into sweaty fruit, handfulls of cabinet spices and feigned character: sickly aroma of cooked apple, doused with cheap cassonade, nutmeg and brandy fumes, coriander soup, sweaty yoghurt wheat porridge. Could just as well be an ImpBlackWit (jawohl). - Flavour comparable, natural & artificial overcooked barley&candisugars. Sugarsweaty Mouthfeel is a charade, pure absence that makes you chew for presence... 3/4 drainpour. This beer belongs to the Belgian 80s, the Belgian gastronomical era that does not need to be retrofied, or in fact salvaged for our age. "Kitsch ist das Böse im Wertsystem der Kunst" (H.Broch).

UPDATED: JAN 3, 2018 C'est une bière moelleuse et légèrement amère avec des arômes de malts grillés, de caramel et de fruits secs. Plutôt sympa.

midovark (1133) - Budapest, HUNGARY - DEC 31, 2017
0.25 l bottle. Pours black with beige head. Usual Belgian-style aroma, maybe somewhat more spicy. Taste is sweet, with fruity and alcoholic notes. Closes with lingering sweet finish, has light to medium body and average carbo.

330ml dark bottle, (barely) unfiltered, from BeerWulf. This is nice, This is my sort of beer. Chocolate flavours - and naturally from the malts, not from some added gunk. Barley sugar. Bubblegum. It's sweet and malty and easy drinking. A little too carbonated. And perhaps a little too lacking in character. But, still, a proper beer.

750 ml bottle. Poured into Trappist glasses. Pours a deep mahogany brown with some claret highlights when held up to the light. A subtle pour still nets a strong 1" bubbly beige head. Some minor lace. Enticing aroma of dark fruits, brown sugar, candied fruit and I'm picking up some white grape. Sweet taste with the aroma transitioning into the flavor. The white grape lasts a few sips then morphs into the darker fruits. Medium bodied and well carbonated. Very nice!

Bottle pours dark clear chestnut mahogany with a lasting light khaki head. Aroma is spiced and Belgian with toffee, plum, and prune notes. The flavor is malty with spicy yeast notes, but a bit of a letdown after the nice aroma. Some booze evident. The feel is very lively and carbonated with medium plus body. A nice, enjoyable one.

Bought from drankdozijn.nl in a 750ml bottle with cork. Appearance: dark copper beer, with live carbonation and off white head. Nose: malts, anise some brown sugar. Taste: pretty much what the nose detected. Lots of brown sugar, but in a good way. The anise takes the sweetness away, so it is well balanced. It makes it all easy drinkable. Nice after taste. Not bad at all.
