3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
On tap at Capone’s. Opaque brown pour with tan light tan head. Caramel, tart fruit, cardamom, cinnamon, soy sauce. Moderately weet. Body was light and smooth, maybe a bit watery. Not sure this was the best pour as the flavors were pretty subdued.
Bottle. Dark bronze color, rich creamy foam. Aroma: toffee, caramel, spices, esters and port wine. Taste: spicy, wine, slightly brandy, sweetness and slight bitterness. IslandHaole (1273) - Misawa, JAPAN - JUN 25, 2017
A clear, brown color, small head, has the scent of Rum and Coke with spiced Rum. Toss in a bit of dusty basement with Old Spice. Lively carbonation, sticky feel. Sweet malt and not a whole lot more. Not my cup of tea. Homer321 (5110) - Melboring, Florida, USA - MAY 6, 2017
Bottle to glass. Strong strong perfume nose. Light fruitiness. Some raisins. Cardamom? Brown pour small white head. Taste is less floral and perfume. Dried fruit and annoying carbonation dominate with a light candi sugar sweetness. Decent enough. nathanvc (537) - Brugge, BELGIUM - APR 26, 2017
Pours cloudy dark brown with a lasting, foamy, beige head. The aroma contains malt, caramel, raisins, dates and other fruits, some licorice and spices. It tastes medium sweet and - in the finish - light bitter and even light sour. The alcohol is well hidden. Creamy/oily texture, light, fizzy carbonation, long finish. Reminded me a bit of Rochefort 10, though not as complex and intense, of course. I find this very tasty. rferrey (132) - Huelva, SPAIN - MAR 3, 2017
Color marrom oscuro, aroma muy ligero que no se corresponde con el sabor, una belgian strong mas, con cuerpo medio, predominio maltoso, ligeramente acida y alcohol que se nota en garganta

Enjoyable Christmas Ale. Pours a nice brown glass of ale with a malty aroma. Niko100 (2930) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - JAN 24, 2017
Dark amber/cider color; Medium slightly creamy body; Aroma of sweet malt, yeast, fruit, & spice; Flavor of sweet malt, yeast, caramel, dark fruit, and spice; Nicely balanced; Solid. J_man (1006) - Tustin, California, USA - JAN 22, 2017
750 ml. bottle from 2016. Rich toasted malt and dark fruit aromas with a touch of molasses. Murky dark brown color but nice orange/red color under bright light. Dark cherries and dates with some nutmeg and allspice mixed in the flavor. The body is quite light for what I thought it would be with a creamy texture and the alcohol seems subdued for 8.5%. There’s a touch of vanilla and cream in there too. Finishes with a little heat and a lasting dark fruit and vanilla flavor. Although all the components were very good, for some reason the overall result was somewhat less than the sum of the parts. Still a very good Christmas ale.
