UPDATED: NOV 4, 2014 Quite fruity and light for this kind of beer. Some burnt caramel and quite malty, not too sweet, light bitter. Nice, but not very special. Mouthfeel is the weakest part. A bit watery.

12oz bottle pours a dark brown color with a bit of head. Lots of maltiness. Belgian yeast.

Bottle 33cl. @home poured into trappist glass. Opaque deep ruby brown, small frothy beige head, half-way lasting, light lacing; aroma roasted malts, cocoa, coffee, dark fruits, treacle; taste light heavy sweet and light bitter, malty, milk chocolate, caramel, dark fruits; sweetbitter aftertaste, molasses, chocolate notes; medium body, oily to watery texture, soft carbonation; less rich and round than expected (and hoped).

Donker bruine dubbel, zoet, rozijnen, klein beetje zuur en licht bitter, volle smaak, lekker biertje. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Dark brown with 2+ inches of pillowy foam. Pretty clear. Smells of raisin, date, leather. Pretty glorious. Have a sip, an the immediate impression is a disappointing thinness and over carbonation. Taste is dark fruits, brown bread. Close.

Dark brown color. Plum, dark fruit with a touch of cherries, brandy and icing sugar in the nose. The palate is smooth, lots of milk chocolate and dark fruit and moderately sweet. Icing sugar and chocolate linger in the finish

Bottle from Merchants. Aroma is ester, dark fruit, caramel, spices, nutty, very nice. Appearance is brown, hazy, fluffy light tan head. Taste is robust, dark fruit, caramel, wood, earthy hops, esters, nutty, excellent. Mouthfeel is light to medium body, light crisp carbonation, nutty caramel woody fruity aftertaste. Overall, definitely one of the better Dubbels I’ve had.

Gentle at first, really needs to warm up. Toffee, raisins, and caramel. Light and bubbly, especially compared to some other doubles. Not as good as I remembered from years ago.
