Cask at Swan, Farnborough. Grassy, hay aroma. Chestnut. Fluffy but blotchy off-white head. Initially a vague sweetness but bitterness creeps in and then takes over. A malty undertow and as I drink more the sweetness reappears into the finish. More than light bodied, but still watery. Light carbonation. Abrupt finish. Better than average average bitter, more to it than twigs.

Bottle. Copper/Brown in colour; reddish against light. Malty; lots of nuts, caramel, toasty/roasty malts. Fruity; hints of dried fruits. Hoppy; grassy hops. Good malt/hop balance. Sweet malty nutty with a dry hoppy finish. Enjoyed this. Very drinkable. Nice beer! (2011-12-23)

Clear deep chesnut brown color, steady small beige head. Nutty, toffeish aroma. Light-bodied. Toffeish, nutty, some crisp earthy hoppyness in the finish. Sweetish, clean very English bitter. Old skool.

500ml bottle from Tuckers Maltings. Pours clear amber with a thin, short-lived white head. Aromas are malty and metallic. Taste is more of the same, with a grassy, astringent bitterness. Not great.

Aroma of caramel malts slight smokiness. Copper body and good lacing. Nicely balanced with the toffee malts set against the hops. Easy drinking. Solid as its reputation suggests.
