Draft at The Trappist. The strangest beer I’ve had for some time... Murky copper pour with a frothy ivory head. Strange, vegetal nose with notes of spices and musty citrus. Extremely vegetive flavor. Perhaps its the power of suggestion but it tastes like ivy; I don’t think I like ivy. Somewhat malty with some spice. I really don’t know what to say about this beer but I know I couldn’t finish it.
Bottle best before May ’13, opened in Mar ’17. Pours slightly hazy dark amber with a large, stable white head. Good lacing. Aroma of vinegar, sugars, lemon... Minor hops... Interesting. Bit acidic and moldy as well, but relatively minor. Tastewise mildly sour and predominantly yeasty, leading to a mild dry banana finish. Some lingering orange peel tones, some spices and a mild fruity undertone. Thick texture, bit cloying. Medium bodied. Not bad, could have been richer in terms of taste. 75 cl. Limited edition, lotto 19A2, best before 7 maggio 2015, aperta il 25 settembre 2016.
Ambrata con riflessi dorati, velata dai lieviti, schiuma beige grossolana e non troppo persistente.
Aroma di scorza d’arancia, arancia candita, note di ossidazione, miele, leggero chiodo di garofano, note balsamiche.
Al palato miele, scorza e polpa d’arancia, note balsamiche, finale metallico dovuto all’ossidazione misto a diacetile molto leggero; risulta comunque piacevole.
Ben carbonata, corpo medio. Icedwarf (1628) - Etten-Leur, NETHERLANDS - AUG 28, 2016

, Tampere (old backlog). Copper colour with a mediumsized slightly off-white head. Aroma is sweet malts, some spicy yeast as well as some toffee. Flavour is spicy, some sweet malts, mild floral notes along with a bit rubbery notes. The spices come together in a quite strange way.
750 ml. bottle @ home. Purchased @ Belgiuminabox. BBF 07/05/2015. Hazy dark amber, collapsing lightly off-white head. Nose is vanilla, candy sugar, sweet spices, caramel, rather sweet,… Taste is light herbal praline (quite clear), light vanilla, higher carbonation obscuring the taste a bit, light herbs, lots of candy sugar, cinnamon, light metal, caramel, nutmeg, light herbal bitterness in the back but largely it is just sweet, touch candy, faint jam,… Carbonation is rather soda-like. It is far more one-note and rather dull than all of that sounds,… It is just a one-note rather dull cookie, herbal, candy sugar,…. Intrusively metallic,… I expected something far more expressive with this many ingredients,… Faintly interesting still. kraddel (7870) - Antwerp, BELGIUM - APR 1, 2015
Pours hazy amberbrown. Small white head. Smell is sweet, indeed some xomplex mix of spices. Earthy / forest like as well. Taste is bit sweet, malty in the back. Lingering spiced sweetness. Very mild bitter aspect. Hood Mf and carbo. Very complex, yet very balanced. Perhaps a bit overly spiced... Alengrin (5262) - BELGIUM - AUG 10, 2014
Tasted at Oostends Bierhuisje (which unfortunately does not exist anymore). Strange ale with Scottish-inspired label and unusual ingredients; creamy foam, deep and warm, pretty amber colour. Malt and bit of candi sweetness, bit nutty, caramelly, adorned with vanilla, lemon peel and camphor-like spiciness; if you know what ground ivy smells like, well, it is certainly there. Belgian ales can be strange at times, this one is certainly unusual, but I liked it.
