750 ml bottle shared with Tmoney99 and Chris R. Pours a mostly clear brown color with a medium sized beige head. The aroma has a rice funk which is very strange, rye whiskey barrel, not my favorite. The flavor has some roast, big rye whiskey, wood, rice, light general fruity notes, I like the flavor better than the nose, I also like that it is over 10%, but I’ve had better stuff from these guys. Draft. Poured clear black color with an average frothy tan head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate to heavy toasted dark malt and wood aroma. Medium to full body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. Medium to heavy dark sweet flavor with a medium to heavy sweet finish of moderate to long duration. My expectations were exceeded. growler - nose is much like a black IPA but more brown if that makes sense. Sip adds chocolate, citrus zest, coconut?, spruce, and that’s it. not getting BA effect at all. very light for 11.3% ABV. oh had to rerate after it got warmer. the whiskey came in strong after a while. Dark brown color. Big malty sweet nose with loads of bourbon. Big malty mouth, lots of dark fruit, chocolate, burnt raisins, brown sugar, boozy, lots of bourbon, but never overly sweet or cloying. Big warming finish with some dark fruit chocolate and bourbon notes. I like the fact it’s never gets too sweet for being so big. In that sense it’s well balanced and executed. Didn’t find it had mind blowing depth and I prefer the Angry Moses more, but nonetheless a solid brew.

Tap at Yellow Ape. Dark burgundy pour, some lacing. Aroma of rye whisky, some barrel oak, rich plum, and a bright hoppy note. Similar flavour, a little lighter in feel than expected, the rye works well with rich malt, and I keep getting a dark fruit taste. Quite quaffable for the style, some effervescent bitterness. On tap at Yellow Ape’s 4th Anniversary Event. A reddish brown pour with a beige head. It’s got a sharp floral rye whiskey aroma. on tap @ Party Town (Friday Nite Flights) / Florence KY ---Aroma of malt and rye. Cloudy dark brown color, bubbly brown rim head, streaks of lace. Had at the Harajuku Taproom. Don’t know if it was made at Baird or Country Boy. Medium brown, with a thicker, bubbly head. Darker fruits, some barrely notes, and some light esters. Soft body, some alcohol apparent, has a caramel, butterscotchy note. Comes across as a barrel-aged old ale. Bit more butterscotchy than I would like.
