Tap at Gambrinus. Huge oak-forward nose without much else going on, maybe a touch of vanilla and bourbon, but the oak is intense. More oak on the palate. Boozy. Bottle thanks to PhillyCraft! Pours clear chestnut, small beige head, dissipates fairly quickly to some residual and lacing. Aroma is bourbon, oak tannin, coffee. Flavor is kind of like watered down bourbon. Base beer just does not have the oomph to hold up to this treatement. Oak, bourbon, water, toffee. Light body, a bit watery here too. PVW sharpness. I’m sure they are able to charge more just because it is aged in pappy barrels. Really good though.

Rated on 10-21-2015 at 800 Degrees Three Fires-Fort Wayne, IN. This draft beer is served with a a very small beige head that is mostly lasting, transparent copper body, and no carbonation observed. The aroma is caramel malt, sweet, dark fruit and vanilla. The flavor of this beer is caramel malt, fruity, vanilla, and moderately boozy. The mouthfeel is smooth and this beer is light-medium bodied. This bottled brew from a bottle shop poured a head of finely sized bubbles that were quickly diminishing and left behind a uncarbonated transparent cola brown colored body and a oily lacing. The mild aroma was brown malt. The crisp mouth feel was weakly tingly at the start and at the finish mild vinous hop aftertaste. The ok flavor contained notes of roasted malt and mild hops. Flavor is of caramel, bourbon, and oak. Nice dark sugar flavor also. Tastes and smell is balanced for a strong ale. Very nice mouthfeel. Thin fading head. Good beer!
