on tap and it poured a mild to medium brown with thin white head. no real lacing on this one. also am not sure if this is the right beer for what I had. was at mellow mushroom and they called it spruce brown ale at 6.5%. average brown ale medium roasted malt and some chocolate and nuts. but also had a faint hint of mint (spruce)...weird combo but whatever works. rondphoto (4431) - Lakeside Park, Kentucky, USA - AUG 4, 2014
on tap @ Party Town / Florence KY --- Clear brown with a tan head cover, strings of lace. Inviting aroma of ginger and malt. Taste is malt that adds spices and a touch of chocolate in the palate, then moving on to a light bittering in the finish. Heavy toward the sweet side, nearly syrup in texture, but agreeable enough to drink. b3shine (8864) - Indiana, USA - AUG 15, 2013
Growler to snifter (shared by Tmoney99). Looks solid; a semi-transparent brown with thin off-white lacing. Smells malty with notes of caramel and toffee. Tastes like it smells, only more subdued. Average on the palate. Decent beer. thorongil2 (3072) - , Ontario, CANADA - AUG 9, 2013

Draft. Chocolate caramel malt, cinnamon, and white pepper aroma. Brown with small head. Sweet caramel malt, white pepper, and spruce flavor. Very unique and tasty.

Taster at the brewpub. Wow. Tastes and smells like a schnickerdoodle. Pretty original. Medium body. Lighter, crisp carbonation. More dry texture. Dark hazy brown / amber color. Minimal white head, few dots of lace. Some light spruce, toasted malts. Mild bitter taste. Interesting, impressive stuff. Tmoney99 (14457) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - AUG 2, 2012
Draft sample. Poured clear brown color with an average frothy white head that was lasting and produced good lacing. Moderate toasted resin spruce aroma. Medium body with a smooth slick texture with soft carbonation. Moderate spruce toasted bittersweet flavor with with a moderate bittersweet finish of moderate duration. This is a change of pace beer. Aroma of chocolate with light spruce. Appearance is dark brown with bone head. Flavor matches the nose; palate is bubbly. Decent.
