Originally brewed in Courage’s Anchor brewery on the south bank of the Thames. It was moved to the Berkshire brewery at Reading in the 1970s, then to the Courage Brewery in Bristol. When Bristol closed in 1999 it moved to Tadcaster. Following ScotCo’s reshuffle in 2004 it was contract brewed by Youngs, returning it to a site on the south bank of the Thames. In January 2007 the Courage brand was purchased by Wells & Youngs and production moved to Bedford.

With over 200 years of brewing pedigree, Courage Best Bitter retains its widespread popularity.
Pale brown in appearance with a bitter after taste, Courage Best Bitter consumers enjoy its lower ABV of 4% that allows them the opportunity to enjoy their favourite ale for longer.
Pale in colour, fully balanced with a malty flavour and distinctive hop character, makes for an easy drinking session beer.

In London, cask pulled - amber color. Not much for the smell, but makes up for it in the taste. A bit malty but not overly, lighter mouth feel than expected but not at all bad. Just average.

martpez (282) - Norwich, Norfolk, ENGLAND - SEP 16, 2017
Dark cooper bitter slightly watery has a dry finish otherwise a decently balanced but not particualary speceal bitter.

Kebabman (14) - Devon, ENGLAND - JUN 8, 2017
Faint malt aroma, thin sweet taste, faint bitterness, why did we drink this back in the day?

Cokemonkey11 (1050) - - FEB 16, 2017
Cask, wheatsheaf. Pours pale amber with no head. Scent is skunky ale. Taste is bitter and slightly sour ale. Finish is dirty water. Fine.

Cask at The Wheel, Longston. A clear deep amber colour with a medium off white head. Aroma of caramel, hedgerow fruits, some weeds and subtle earthy hops. Taste is similar of caramel, hedgerow fruits, some weeds, slight biscuit and subtle earthy hops. Light bodied and soft carbonation. A dry, fruity, earthy hop bitterness in the finish. A big standard, traditional bitter. Quite light, earthy but boring.

Alexi91 (437) - Bristol/Romsey, Hampshire, ENGLAND - SEP 29, 2015
Origin: Tap. Vessel: Plastic Nonic. Supplier: The Old Duke (Bristol). Flat with a tinge of bitterness.

KyotoLefty (10610) - Kyoto, JAPAN - AUG 26, 2015
Cask at the Bell. Brown-orange with thick bubbles. Spicy UK hop nose, tobacco, herbs, caramel. Lightly sweet flavor, caramel, earthy, spicy hops. Low bitterness.

Cunningham (8282) - Halden, NORWAY - JUN 23, 2015
Amber color with almost no head. Floral and fruiy nose. Not that bad really. Unusual fruity flavor and "stone dead" carbonation. It was like drinking a massive fruit juice. Hope to find another sample. Must have been some thing wrong. Reading lost The Game also.
[On tap at Madejski Stadium in Reading, England]
