Leighton (22019) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - DEC 25, 2013
Draft at GBBF 2013 - London. Pours black with a creamy tan head. Lovely stuff, lots of creamy chocolate, moderate alcohol, well roasted malts. Full bodied with fine carbonation. Sweet finish but not cloying with more chocolate character and roasty malts. Rich and tasty.

DruncanVeasey (8260) - Nr NUNEATON, Warwickshire, ENGLAND - DEC 23, 2013
275ml. Tar pour with a fat manila collar. Roasted veg and yeast extract aroma with brine, peppery alcohol and fudge hints. Slick and rusted with a somewhat flimsy charred posh crisp (beetroot) and fudge profile. Burnt Twiglet finish with ill-suited soapy hop. Pleasant warmth and bitter espresso roast. Needs time. Or mixing with Advocaat.

stravale (3088) - Co. Westmeath, IRELAND - DEC 22, 2013
Bottle from Tomlinsons Beer Shop, Inverness [231213] 2012 Vintage
Pitch black, no head, no lacing. Aroma of rich meaty dark malts, deep soy sauce, some rich dark fruits, vinous notes, dab of leather, bit earthy, soft alcohol. Taste of rich dark malts, very soft roast, dab of tar, soy, some meaty roast malts, liquorice, woody, dab of dark molasses and chocolate, complex stuff, alcohol is very well hidden. Palate - very soft carb, medium body- it’s a bit light in body but fine for this beer, soft sweet with light burnt bitter notes. Finish as main flavour, all those complex dark malts, slightly smoky, soy, smooth tail.
Overall - Complex flavour and not heavy...really nice old-fashioned impy. Certainly the best beer I’ve had from Wells and Youngs!

Garrold (5501) - Sheffield, South Yorkshire, ENGLAND - DEC 21, 2013
Bottle from Testicles. Nearly black. Thin, tan head. Licorice, blackberry, leather, dried vinous fruit. Taste is brown sugar sweet, then dark chocolate tangy. Palate is thick, oily, and quite frankly, delicious. Long, bitter finish. Best value beer of the year!

rauchbier (3922) - Isle Of Beer, Lincolnshire, ENGLAND - DEC 21, 2013
Bottle, from Tesco, Scunthorpe. Jet black, fluffy but quickly reducing coffee beige head and gentle condition. Treacle, toffee and sweet liquorice, some woody smokiness and a touch of coffee in the nose. Sweet liquorice again in the mouth with a developing roast barley bitterness and a delicate chalky sweet coffee note. Alcohol is quite dominant and lingers retronasaly, finish has a sweet start with notes of coffee before a slight fruitiness and finally a roasted bitterness.

Lonick (2537) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - DEC 17, 2013
Bottle thanks to McNeillR, Pours black, quite simple but that should not be considered a bad thing in this beer. Coffee, vanilla, sweet, nice and comforting. You would never have guessed that it was 10%

Christopsy (137) - SCOTLAND - DEC 17, 2013
Bottle from Tesco. Nice creamy full bodied imperial stout. Full of dark chocolate and coffee flavors. Lovely aftertaste.Nice frothy 2 finger head

tommann (3895) - Dudley, West Midlands, ENGLAND - DEC 16, 2013
Rating 2300. 275ml bottle, 2012 vintage. Pours jet black with a medium head. Aroma is liquorice, espresso, tobacco and beef. A little mint. Taste is liquorice and coffee. Touches of mint ice cream. Less complex than the aroma.

auerbrau (3203) - Ithaca, New York, USA - DEC 15, 2013
2012 Nip. Found this in the discount section for $1.50. Seemed like there couldn’t be any reason not to give it a swing. Aroma is intensely scented with toffee, pipe tobacco, molasses, and cocoa powder. Flavors start similarly, but then develop a slightly acrid, kind of harsh chemical quality to them that reminds me of Fuggles, but could be something else. There is some dark malt smokiness in the middle and the overall dark malt build will be interesting to re-engage as it smoothes.

CraftBeerNick (2725) - London Town, Greater London, ENGLAND - DEC 14, 2013
Bottle at home, 13th December 13. Pours black, aroma is smokey ash, sweet chocolate. Taste is not so complex, but a reasonable sipper, for the price
