FoBAB 11’ Pours a murky brown way to much bourbon taste in this beer. A good example of a beer not to BA or a BA experiment gone wrong. Pass SledgeJr (3577) - Omaha, Nebraska, USA - JAN 16, 2010
On tap at the brewpub during the 2009 Crescent Moon Des Moines Trip. Cask conditioned. Pours reddish purple with a big bubbled ecru head. Intense vanilla aroma. This is very smooth with low carbonation. Served way too cold. Finishes quite dry. Chalky in fact. The bourbon is understated in flavor, but huge in the aroma. UPDATED: FEB 16, 2009 Perhaps the sweetest bourbon barrel ale I’ve ever had, I generally don’t like my beers this sweet, but I have to say this holds together very nicely. Pours clear and brown with a nice white fluffy head, not a lot of lace. Aroma is sweet malt, a little roastiness, a little yeastiness, certainly some vanilla. Flavor is largely vanilla, a nice little bourbon character and mild yeasty and roasty notes. GeneralGao (3614) - Iowa City, Iowa, USA - NOV 11, 2006
Draught at the brewpub. Clear orange-brown color with off white head that left a filmy lace on the side of the glass. Aroma was nutty and earthy with a hint of whisky. The bourbon was also very subdued in the flavor. Not sure I would have picked it up if the beer had been named differently.
