Hazy red - brown beer, tiny white head. Dry and crispy palate. Caramel chocolate in the malt. On top is a lively plummy fruit. Minerals. Dry and slightly bitter finish. An interesting brown, but a tad over dry.
Bottle from the brewpub. Pours dark amber/brown with a 3 finger foamy beige head. Aroma is sort of nutty chocolate. Med body/frothy carb. Flavor is nutty/malty, and I can imagine a hint of chocolate. Bomber poured a clear reddish brown with a small, quickly diminishing amber head. Aromas of carmel, chocolate, toasted malt and a hint of nuts. Palate was edium bodied and smooth. Tap @ Crabtree. Pours a dark orange appearance with a khaki head. Nutty, toasted caramel marke malty, somewhat spicy aroma. Tangy fruity, lightly acetic (huh?), caramel flavor. Drinkable but has some issues.

Pour out of 12 oz bottle, slightly fizzy dark brownish red pour with thin off white head, aroma brought notes of trashy cardboard, sour grain, hints of earth, slight caramel, touch of diacetyl, uh oh. Taste is better, but powdery cocoa, some slight trash, garbage, wet husky grains, slight sour grain, hints of earth and nuts, finishing fairly bitter, very fizzy and acidic with the carbonic acid. Head is initially small, frothy, light brown, mostly diminishing.
Body is clear medium to dark brown, bottle conditioned.
Aroma is moderately malty (caramel, roasted nuts, toasted bread), lightly hoppy (flowers), lightly yeasty (cobwebs), with light notes of plum, apple skin, and honey.
Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly bitter.
Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly to moderately bitter.
Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation.

Apparently, this recipe has just been tweaked. However, I think something went wrong with this batch. It doesn’t smell right at all, big sour notes. The head disappears immediately. The tastes begins okay, and while there really isn’t that much nuttiness in it, it tastes decent. However, it seems overall that this batch must have been tainted somehow, as the overall flavoring is sourness. Perhaps the equipment wasn’t cleaned properly. Dark ruby - frothy lace - nose is leafy tobacco, roasted nuts, toffee, earthy hops - soft carbonation, smooth texture - flavor is medium dry, with strong hazelnut - a bit of tobacco - light caramel sweetness and subtle hops on the tail end, along with a mild acidity - nothing stand out, but perfectly drinkable and enjoyable for what it is - nothing I would buy again, but decent - this brewery gets no love.
