UPDATED: AUG 6, 2011 Dark brown with a tan head. Figgy, raisiny aroma with light chocolate notes. Sweet and earthy, with dark sugary notes. Burnt plum and raisin, nice character. Balanced, smooth and slightly chewy. Good schwarzbier. FatPhil (17080) - Tallinn, ESTONIA - SEP 24, 2009
330ml bottle (Stockman, Tallinn)Scopey (15747) - Croydon, Greater London, ENGLAND - NOV 1, 2011
Almost black, brief fizzy tan head. Slightly sharp and almost sour aroma,
but not off. Sharp carbonation, quite harsh. Roasted body. Taste has
some of the sharpness from the aroma, and quite a kick of really burnt
malts. Not so far as to be ashy though, quite a good schwartz in fact.
Finish is almost entirely deeply roasted malts.
Keg at Craft Brewery, Athens. It pours darkest brown, with a thick light tan head. The nose is caramel, toffee, latte and light roasted malt. The taste is chocolate, caramel, lactose, filter coffee, light roasted malt and a touch of liquorice. Medium body, fine carbonation, foamy mouth-feel and good balance. Tasty and very easy drinking. bierkoning (13689) - La Tropica/Doarp, NETHERLANDS - MAY 26, 2009
Bottle from Nightfall, thanks! Deep dark brown color, almost black. Roastaroma with cappucino. Malty, roasty sweet flavor with cappucino and a hint of ash. Also a hint of pear. Pleasant session beer.
