330 ml shared bottle, kindly provided by our beerpal Jan Magnus. ABV 5%. Very dark brown colour, moderate beige head. Mildly roasty aroma, notes of chocolate and mild coffee. Fairly dry flavour, medium roasty, notes of mild coffee, hints of dark bitter chocolate. Tolerable hops in the finish. BlackHaddock (7696) - Shropshire, ENGLAND - MAY 14, 2012
September 2008: This brewery doesn’t mess around with fancy names. The four fonts on offer at the only bar I’ve seen this beer at were: Lager, Black Lager, Red Ale and Weiss Bier.
Poured into the breweries own glassware, this beer was jet black with a good tan head on top. It looked impressive sat next to the nuts and warming in the early evening sun by the harbour in Chania, Crete.
The aroma was all about roasted and burnt malts, as was the taste. Sadly it was just like drinking a watered down, fizzy Porter or Stout. There was no creaminess or rich body to it at all. It was a lager, but black and with a smell (unlike most lagers).
The beer just didn’t feel right, it looked so wholesome and inviting, but failed to live up to its looks. It was too fizzy and lacked body. SaintMatty (7529) - Uppsala, SWEDEN - JUL 31, 2009
330ml Bottle - Dark brown with red tinges. Malty aroma with some roasted hints and elements of dried fruit and caramel. Roasted and slightly smoky taste with hints of coffee, chocolate and caramel. Fairly enjoyable. Borresteijn (7494) - Zaandam, NETHERLANDS - JUL 23, 2009
RBESG Sheffield 2009 Grand Tasting at the Harlequin. Deep dark reddish brown colour, beige head. Aroma of roasted malts, rye, caramel. Flavour is sweet ryebread, malts, ligth sour, bittersweet malty finish. Light to medium bodied. That’s two wins for Craft in a row. KnutAlbert (6792) - Oslo, NORWAY - APR 18, 2008
Draft at the brewpub in Athens.
Dark with a golden glow. Beige head.
A whiff of smoke, a little liquorice. Coffee, burned toast.
Easy drinking and refreshing, but with full flavour. The Greeks don’t make them better than this!

Draft @ brewpub. The color of brown bears and opaque, and at the bottom of the glass is cola-colored. Stable small head. Rich malt sugars. Soft palate. Balanced, clean, and good. teddybeer (4123) - Madrid, SPAIN - MAR 13, 2013
[Thanks to fugitive]. Bottled. Dark brown colour with a light beige head with an average duration. Aroma is toasty with light hints of chocolate. Flavor is cocoa, with a toasty maltiness, and slightly sweet. Dry final. hawthorne00 (4118) - Melbourne, AUSTRALIA - SEP 27, 2010
Bottle. Dark cola brown with a beige head. Chocolate and grass aroma. Taste has caramel, toast, chocolate. Nice roasted malt note at the end. Fine, but rather plain. rouhlas (3784) - Thessaloniki, GREECE - DEC 30, 2015
From old notes. From 330ml bottle. Dark brown color with off white head. Malty aroma, roasted, caramel, bready, licorice, light smoked, some hoppy notes. Sweet and bitter taste like aroma. Light to medium thin to oily body with soft carbonation. Beerlando (3343) - Orlando, Florida, USA - JUL 20, 2008
Draft at the brewpub in Athens. The body is a clear, dark, chestnut brown color with crimson highlights. A small, foamy, tan colored head leaves random flares of sudsy lacing on the glass. The aroma showcases scorched caramel malts, molasses, indiscernible dark fruits, cocoa, and earthy, bitter hops. The flavor follows those same lines, with perhaps a touch of day-old coffee lending further bitterness. Very earthy overall. Medium bodied and smooth, finishing quite dry. Solid beer, and second only to the smoked lager amongst the Craft brews that I got to try.
