3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
22oz thick as hell dark red waxed bomber, picked up at Tom’s Farms Cheese and Wine for a frighteningly expensive price, pours with a clear deep amber ruby red body that supports just a few small bubbles. The aroma is sweet with prunes, molasses, brown sugar and nuttiness and then getting into boozy bourbon, vanilla and a dash of coconut. The taste starts smooth soft and sweet and quickly gets into sweet prunes and dates covered in molasses. To midway booziness rimmed softly by vanilla and smooth bourbon murmur their way to the surface. At spots modest spicy oak is noticed. This works for me. At times it’s smooth and nectar like and then it’s boozy and spicy with oak.
