[2/19/15] Draught at Beachwood BBQ in Long Beach. Black with a brown head. Aroma of coffee, chocolate, dark fruits, licorice and a bit of alcohol. Sweet flavor, roasty, with an acidic touch, chocolate, some dark fruits and a burnt and hoppy bitter finish. Full-bodied. Very nice. dinkle50 (1532) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - MAR 7, 2015
Black pour with huge two finger espresso head. Roasty aroma. Chocolate and bitter roasted malt at play here. Medium mouth. Taste is full of roast and little milk chocolate. Lots of lace. Nice sweetness. Hints of orange and pine as well. Bacterial (3054) - Twin Cities, Minnesota, USA - JAN 17, 2015
Wow. This beer is quite imaginative. GT2 described this as a cross between an imperial stout and a black IPA and that really nails it in my opinion as well. Dark black pour with almost no head. Resin, pine hop nose and in the taste with an orchestra of roasted malt balancing it. Pints three and four made the next day pretty rough, but this was a wonderfully crafted beer. Origin: Tap at Churchill’s Size: 4oz taster Glass: Mini pilsner Price: $3-4 Date: 1/14/14
Long: Pours inky with fantastic espresso lacing. Nose is near Black IPA with big pine, excellent savory dark chocolate, black cherry, cherry cola. Taste is- Hot Damn- herbal pine hop bomb with some unfortunate grape soda character. Thankfully, that goes away to make way for bitter melted dark chocolate, chai tea spices, holiday spiced hot cocoa. Really an RIS and Black IPA mix.

Felt like a cross between a good porter and a Belgian dark. Malts were toasty and thick with moderate sweetness, palate was bold, finish had hints of spices.
