Tap at Monk’s Kettle. Deep amber-tan pour, slightly tart lactic aroma with a soft malt sweetness. A touch of light soft fruitiness. A bit of raspberry and woody sort of vineousness. Some light earthiness and a touch of soft spice. Really thirst-quenching. A little bit of cherry as well. Delicious.

A Sim rate (on tap at Beachwood BBQ, Seal Beach): Lovely, lovely beer, and I promise it’s not only the just-arrived-in-LA holiday high. Aroma is sour with a real woodiness, barnyardy and funky. Pours a cloudy, lowly carbonated orange color with almost no head. Nice fruitiness to the nose. Interesting peach aroma, strawberry, melon, and a fair amount of bread and straw. A nice citrus quality to it overall and moderate tartness. Tastes strongly of peach yogurt and melon. A nice sourness, some mild straw, oak, and malt sweetness, too. Good citrus flavor, too. Pretty nice, actually.

On tap. Pours with a hazed golden hued body with a small white head. Aromas are appley, estery, lacto, yogurt and some sourness. Light brett, toasted notes (oak like), some strawberry like esters. Flavors are tart and vinous, brett and lacto. Nice quenching level of acidity. Medium bubbles, dry and tart on the finish. Mildly grainy notes. Good.
