COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Take a walk on the dark side! Our Geumgang Dark Ale celebrates the forbidden mystique of North Korea’s Geumgangsan, the only mountain in the North you’d ever want to visit! A malty, dark ale with a nutty taste, this brew is not for the timid. Bold, brash, and a little dangerous, our dark ale is so good, you’ll be ordering it by the Dear Liter!

WVHouseofBeer (1068) - West Virginia, USA - JUN 24, 2013
Pours a very dark brown color with a small khaki head. Aromas are kind of light and consist of roasted nuts and dark chocolate. Flavors are more of the same but with some breadiness mixed in there. Finishes slightly bitter and the body is a bit watery and thin. A decent but forgettable beer.

Tap at the brewpub. Nutty, bit of choc, bit sweet, some bitterness. Decent. Malty and nice.

Gut! (Verkostung: 22.8.2016.)

Super dark with a ring head. Strong notes of coffee and chocolate. This one seems like it would fill you up.

On tap at Reilly’s Taphouse, Itaewon. Dark brown, creamy head. Chocolate aroma and flavours, metallic notes in the mouth. Acceptable.

(Tap at Craftworks tap house, Itaewon)
I can’t see light through this beer, which has a lasting ring head. Its aroma has a hint of coffee in and is a generally treacly and brown aroma.
This tastes slightly watery but fills out on swallowing. Malt-oriented, though there’s a bit of a hop tingle. Some treacle.
Quite solid though not astounding. Does leave some roast, mostly light in nature.
Unusually, Phil did not share this.

Lubiere (13915) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - APR 20, 2014
A reddish brown ale with a thin mocha head. In aroma, a sweet fruity caramel malt with roasted notes, light beany notes, OK. In mouth, a roasted caramel malt with light watery body, grassy hops, OK. On tap at brewery.

GIJOE (1210) - North Berwick, Maine, USA - MAR 30, 2014
Pours brown with a tan head. Good lacing. Nose is somewhat like faint caramel. Tastes sweet mostly. Medium body, soft carbonation. Good brew, but I expecting more complexity in the mouth.

3.5
Fatehunter (2567) - Corbett, Oregon, USA - MAR 3, 2014
Pours a thin head on a brown body. The aroma is a nice mixture of licorice and spice. The taste is nutty, licorice with the mildest lemon bitterness in the background. The texture is smooth with moderate carbonation. A tasty brew.
