COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
We bring in the hops for this brew from New Zealand, where locals use the term “Boohai” to describe being thoroughly lost in a remote or non-existant place far from civilization. To us, that sounded like a pretty good place to be. These unique hops present a noticeable aroma of blackberries, Sauvignon Blanc grapes and pine which come together nicely with a complex blend of Belgian malts to make a deep, yet sublimely pleasant beer.

12 ounce can into pint glass, no can dating. Pours moderately hazy/cloudy reddish orange color with a 2-3 finger fairly dense and fluffy light khaki head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Nice dense foamy lacing clings down the glass, with a good amount of streaming carbonation retaining the head. Aromas of big lemon, tangerine, blackberry, strawberry, mango, melon, red grape, pepper, pine, caramel, toasted biscuit, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of citrus/tropical/piney hops and moderate dark/bready malt notes; with good strength. Taste of big lemon, tangerine, blackberry, strawberry, mango, melon, red grape, pepper, pine, caramel, toasted biscuit, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness. Moderate amount of piney/spicy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of lemon, tangerine, berry, mango, melon, pepper, pine, caramel, toasted biscuit, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/tropical/piney hops and moderate dark/bready malt flavors; with a good malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Moderate dryness from bitterness as well. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth and moderate creamy/bready/sticky balanced mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a very nice amber ale. All around good complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/tropical/piney hops and moderate dark/bready malt flavors; and very smooth and easy to drink. A very enjoyable offering.

Pours cloudy copper color with a generous fluffy ivory head. Lots of lacing on the glass. Aroma is spicy grapefruit and juniper. Flavor is hoppy and malty a good yin yang balance. Complex but subtle. I was pleasantly surprised by this hoppy red ale.

12 oz. can. Hazy light amber with a film of creamy bubbles. Big nose of caramel, resin, cocoa, mild citrus, peach and strawberry. Tastes of strawberry, resin and toffee. Dry finishing touches of toasted walnut, green herb, dry grass, ash and citrus zest. Light-medium body has a nice balance and low-medium carbonation. Tasty and refreshingly different take on an oft-times boring style.

Can at Örebro Ölcafé. Fruity smell with an aroma that I have a hard time pinpointing. I think it’s gooseberry, white wine and blackberry. Similar taste, malty and hoppy. A bit buttery. Very smooth and easy to drink.

Pours hazy dark honey golden with a bit of an eggshell head. Aroma presents malty and woody hop notes. Flavor ramps up everything a notch - delicious! Finish is woody and hoppy, rounding out a firm and fizzy body. Boohai!
