2.7 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
On tap, pours a clear golden color, thin white head. Aroma of sour yeast and rising bread, light to medium body, light malts, walnut and sourdough bread, dries on the finish with some vanilla and coconut. Too light for a Belgian strong for my tastes.
Backlong entry. This beer is close to style with typical flavors. Well rounded and clean. Nothing too outstanding or unusual. shrubber85 (11570) - Greenville, Indiana, USA - DEC 9, 2016
Bottle. Yeast, orange/lemon, biscuit malt, and straw aroma. Cloudy golden yellow with small head. Moderately sweet milky citrus, biscuit malt, and mildly bitter straw flavor. Good body. Very nice. Patrickctenchi (6690) - Cox’s Knob, columbus, Indiana, USA - NOV 20, 2016
Slightly hazed amber-gold with a small white head.
Light fruit, yeasty scent.
Sweet, mildly spicy pear, peach, candi-sugar flavor.
Easy- drinking and fruity.
Pretty nice. GarrettB (1635) - San Diego, California, USA - SEP 18, 2016
September 2nd, 2014 - Bright and mostly clear, Crazy Mountain’s Old Soul Ale is a chipper looking beer. Served in a tall glass, I catch a photo of the underside of the foam, like the underside of a glacier, keeping some bubbles submerged to satisfying optical effect. The aroma is tangy and acidic, with pear and dandelion identifiable, and an overall sense of floral sips ahead. The flavor, however, is much danker and weedier than the aroma would have otherwise suggested. The sweet elements are intense, like candy coated almonds, but the finish is herbaceous. On the second sip I track the herbal graph, and find it earlier than in the finish, but it’s only in the aftertaste that the sweeter side of the Old Soul peels away to let the herbal component shine. I also catch notes of white grapes and lemons, making this a diverse and fascinating brew. Bill Becker (1273) - Casper, Wyoming, USA - MAY 21, 2016
Pours a hazy straw gold with an inch of foam after settling down.
Smells fruity with notes of candi sugar, wheat, and pepper. It has some tartness.
Peppery, a candi sugar sweetness, fruity like the rind of oranges, a bit tart. Not bad.
Light bodied with light carbonation.
Overall, an enjoyable beer.

Can. Pours deep gold with a thin beige head, moderate retention. Aromas of caramel, hay, banana, pepper, biscuit, a little cooked vegetable note. Medium-light body, velvety, mild carbonation. Lightly sweet, a hint of citrus, light bitter finish. Seems a little off, not enough to ruin the batch, but not as nice as it could be. Suttree (6484) - Knoxville, Tennessee, USA - JAN 19, 2016

(Rating #6552) Bulk_Carrier (6065) - Vermont, USA - OCT 21, 2015
This was poured into a mini-tulip.
The appearance was a decent looking hazy bronzed yellow to orange color with a slim finger’s worth of white foaminess that quickly dissipated leaving barely any lacing.
The smell had a sweet dried apricot aroma rolling about a little bit of light spice.
The taste was basically the same thing with a big dry semi-spiced fruity aftertaste running into the finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fairly decent sessionability about it. Carbonation runs fairly light allowing some wheat to display a little bit of body.
Overall, for a Belgian styled strong ale, honestly, it’s a bit under par. Only have again if fresh.
