(On tap) Beautiful, deep mahogany with a reddish glow and a small, off-white head. Slightly impure nose with some burned malt. Medium body with lots of burned malt and an ashy edge. Bitter, burned finish. Apparently the brewery intended a Münchener Dunkel but ended up with a Schwarzbier - or rather a Dry Stout. Oh well, shit happens. Still a decent brew though. 270306 Oakes (18828) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - JAN 17, 2012
Medium brown with no head. Kind of unattractive that way. Lightly chocolatey aroma. Kind of thin, with some chocolate notes. Very simple and not very exciting. TBone (18223) - Pori, FINLAND - MAR 4, 2017

Dark mahogany color, medium-sized beige head. Aroma has coffee, toasted malts and some vegetables notes. Medium-bodied. Toasted, caramelly, earthyness, vegetables. Not so clean feeling here.
On tap at brewhouse. Pours a dark amber with a small frothy light beige head with sticky lacing along the glass. The aroma is roasted malt and coffee. Medium mouthfeel with a sweet roasted malt and lingering dry finish. Easy to drink, a good dunkel from Crescent City. BeerandBlues2 (13814) - Escondido, California, USA - AUG 19, 2013
Tap at the source. Pours clear dark brown with a medium, frothy beige head, short retention with spare to good lacing. Aroma is roast, chocolate, and nutty malt with figs and spicy hops. Flavor is dark malt, light hops and bitterness, dark fruits and a sweet finish. Medium body and carbonation.

Draft... Clear, mahogany lager with a large, frothy, off-white head. Good retention and ink-blot lacing. The nose is fairly nondescript, but holds some very light notes of chocolate. The flavor is well-bittered. Astringent with lively carbonation. Short, crisp, clean finish. Leaves the mouth bone-dry. jercraigs (10886) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - MAR 23, 2012
2012-03-17. Very dark brown black body, small creamy tan Head. 4+ Flavour is nice, light roast, mild sweet dark malt. Mild aroma, light roast. Smooth average palate. Simple but a good take on a schwarzbier and quite enjoyable. My favorite of their beers on this visit. On tap at the brewpub
