3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours black with brown head and the taste is mostly chocolate with a slight vanilla underneath. Very drinkable but much lighter than what I expect from a 10.5% Imperial Stout.........thus, I have a hard time believing it’s really 10.5%.
Good solid stout. Poured a dark black. Aroma was slightly lacking. Hadd this dullness to it. Flavor was fine though. Great example of a RIS. Lightly roasted with big chocolate and leather flavors. crajun (1233) - , Texas, USA - FEB 8, 2015
bottle to glass. bottle was 10/13 from a trade awhile back and I held it in cellar closet. GOOD stout! normal stout stuff executed well. Sammy (12105) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - MAY 19, 2014
The roast, very good. Almonds, mild smoke. Good drinkability. Dark bodied. Bit above average mouthfeel. Bulk_Carrier (6065) - Vermont, USA - MAR 28, 2014
Reviewed from notes. Rcvd in trade.
The appearance had a black/almost slightly brown body with a two finger slightly tan/off-white head, sticky lacing that concaves a bit.
The smell had a roasted grain, light mocha, slight chocolate malt.
The taste was mainly sweet to the cocoa, coffee-like bitterness, slight chocolate aftertaste yet a dry finish.
On the palate, it sat about a medium to heavy, not sessionable - good night as the ABV is slightly felt.
Overall, I’d say this is good for a Russian Imperial Stout that I would have again. puboflyons (3407) - Allenstown, New Hampshire, USA - DEC 3, 2013
From the 22 fl. oz. bottle. Dark brown to near black pour with a small tan head that dissolves. The aroma is exquisite with its dark toasted malts, dark fruity character, and mildly earthy hop quality going on. Slight, very slight, alcohol bite. Not bad for 10.5% in that regard. Medium to full body. The taste is also full of toasted dark malts but I pick up more of a dark fruity character in the taste that is not as obvious on the nose. OK dry finish.

Pours a deep burnt umber color with three fingers of khaki foam. The nose is heavy on roast, milk chocolate and malty whoppers candy. The palate follows with a silky mouthfeel, nice balance and great drinkability. Basically taste like malted barley and chocolate with a kiss of bittersweet bakers cocoa on the finish. Long roast lingers. drfabulous (7818) - Lexington, Kentucky, USA - OCT 12, 2013
Bottle thanks to Ed. Big rich stout aroma. Chocolate and roast. Slightly sticky. Not a heavy body, but a bit of the stout sweetness to it. Nice johnnnniee (4285) - Bedford, New Hampshire, USA - JUL 5, 2013

Pours a solid black with a huge creamy tan head that persists forever leaving lots of sticky lace on the way down. Aromas of chocolate and roast with hints of dark pitted fruits, licorice, and just a touch of oxidation. The flavor is chocolate drizzled sweet cherries and raspberries up front with just a touch of warming alcohol. Licorice, caramel and brown sugar with a touch of earth hop flavor round this one out nicely. Thick body with a velvety creamy smooth mouthfeel, and a light level of carbonation. This is a very nice brew, the chocolate and fruity flavors integrate very well and the abv is well hidden. budznsudz (582) - Audubon, New Jersey, USA - JUL 3, 2013
I bought this thinking it was the bourbon version. The aroma is soy sauce and roasted malt. The taste is soy sauce, roasted malt, and bitter hops. Thin on the palate. Pretty unremarkable for a "reserve" beer in my opinion. Beerdedone (3401) - Croydon, Pennsylvania, USA - MAY 25, 2013
Bottle. Pours black with a creamy brown head. Aroma was roasty with chocolate, coffee and had a hint of vanilla. Flavor of bitter coffee, roasted malts, chocolate, light caramel and some vanilla notes.
