Reserve #2 is a very limited release of a Bourbon barrel aged Porter! This year we will be treated to the flavors drawn from barrels of Four Roses Bourbon, just in time to chase away the winter blues! This release is available in 22oz. bottles only and is being limited to 100 cases. It is THE beer to seek out, find and enjoy! Look for it in finer liquor stores in late March.

2011 Sample pour of deep dark murky brown with a slight khaki head. Nose is boozy with bourbon and caramel. Slightly spiced. Flavor is boozy again, more caramel and some chocolate. Plenty of barrel notes even though it’s well over a year old. Really nice

Chocolatey aromas, sweet bourbon, vanilla. Brown-black with a somewhat lasting tan head. Chocolatey, sweet coffee flavors. Full bodied, finish is kind of metallic.

Not a fan of this particular brew. Might be a good marinade for chicken, as it seems closer to a soy sauce than a beer.

Bottle. Aroma is dark chocolate, coffee and roasted malts. Taste is dark chocolate, vanilla, caramel and roasted malts. Bourbon comes through at end. Taste is strong for low abv. Very good.

From a growler supplied by jcwattsrugger. Thanks John! Pours almost black with a hint of ruby. No head at all. Maybe a thin mocha colored ring. A second more aggressive pour netted a 1/2" of head. Strong bourbon aroma with hints of vanilla & coffee. More bourbon and oak on the flavor. A little bit of dark chocolate and anise. Full bodied. A slow sipper! Very nice.

22oz bottle, sat on this too long, its oxidized flat and not very tasty, some mild hints of bourbon are coming through but its far from dominant.

Bottle. Dark cola with no discernible head. Aroma is roast, chocolate and barrel. Taste is surprisingly tart with a marshmallow barrel profile. Ok.

I feel like I should be rating the "sour" version, since this was sour, but it was the regular version, so here it goes. Quite disappointing obviously. Thin-looking brownish appearance. Nose involved sour apple notes and licorice. Taste is just off, sour. Thin body, nothing exciting. A real bummer. This seems to be a concern with lower gravity barrel aging. Not enough alcohol to kill what’s growing in that barrel. No fun here.

Bomber rec’d in trade from ?? Aroma is bourbon and dark fruits. Taste has some complexity but just too much bourbon to enjoy as a beer

22 oz bottle shared by Tmoney99 (late summer 2011). Pours dark brown in color with a small beige head. The aroma and flavor have roasted malt, chocolate, some sweeter malts influenced by the bourbon barrel, light coffee notes, vanilla and a hint of alcohol. The flavor was decent, but the beer was a bit thin to carry off the barrel as well as it could have.
