Smoky flavor, but not too much. One of those where you either like or you dont. Fairly well crafted overall.

2oz sample at International Great Beer Expo (Meadowlands). Pours light brown with a small khaki colored head. Aroma of smoked bacon and roasted malt. Tons of smoke in aroma and flavor. Taste of caramel, lots of smoke, roasted malt, and finishes kind of bitter and sour.

Drought at International Great Beer Expo (Meadowlands). Reddish brown with beige spongy head, smoky aroma, roasted rye taste (really, not cheating from the description), long finish with sour rye aftertaste. Interesting but not great.

Tap at Bierkraft. Deep brown pour with a thin white head. The nose is very smoky with the rye malt noticeable. Light beechwood and some light plummy fruit. A touch of spice on the finish and a softly salty smoked malt base. Pretty interesting beer. A bit of rye slickness on the back. Lovely

3.2
