Pours pinkish amber with an off white head that’s quite large for a cider. The aroma has lush juicy grapes when a head was on the cider and when it went away there was more of a presence of berries, tartness and sourness. Medium crisp body with lively sharp carbonation. The flavor starts off quite fruity with lots of grape flavor, pepper, melons, spices and, of course, apples. The wine traits really show through more on this one than the other Musketeers I tried. The finish is peppery with a bit of a tannin bite and minor alcohol warmth. As it warms there is more of a sweetness to it and the berry aspects open up more. Great cider. Draught at KC FS. Murky pink-purple color; still with no head. Aroma is red grape juice and something earthy. Definitely get the Zin in the flavor but it also finishes sweet. Pretty tasty and easy to drink, even at 6.8ABV. Kinz (3786) - Glen Allen, Virginia, USA - NOV 13, 2010
From firkin at Belvidere and Broad during Richmond Beer Week. Pours a hazy deep purplish red, no real head. Aroma is dark fruit oriented, hint of vanilla. Flavor is highly complex, with notes of blackberry jam, apples, and some tannic spice. Hint of sweet cranberry. Really very good stuff, one of the better concoctions I’ve had as of late. The zin barrel really worked nicely here.
