Cuba has two beers on the dollar market and for export, Cristal and Bucanero. Cristal is big with the tourists, but you give a Cuban a choice and they will go with Burcanero. Cristal is a typical lager, passable, given the alternatives in Cuba. Light, characterless, sip it cold, forcus not on "palate" but the waves, sand, and what you are waiting for to walk down the beach. They sell Heinken and Corona in Cuba now. GIven these alternatives...go native.

UPDATED: JAN 6, 2018 "The beer is golden in colour with a minimal foam head that disappears as quickly as the lager smell. Small hints of malt and sweetness in the taste before it fades over to water. Probably tastes a lot better when served under a palm tree in Cuba." - beersoftheworldproject.wordpress.com

Bought at: Bien Manger in La Canourgue, France.

Honestly, tastes like that cheap French lager you get in massive quantities in the little dumpy bottles, which has its charms but also its pitfalls. Despite this, it has a decent bitterness. Probably goes down much better in the unforgiving Cuban sun. 330ml bottle from Wally’s Deli, Cardiff.

Can, eight months before bbd. Pours clear, pale yellow, with a big creamy head. Aroma is light malts with some notes of hay, as well as sweet, light zesty hops with floral notes. Medium body, with soft to average carbonation. Flavour is pale malts, with cereals and hay, as well as light, floral hops. A very forgettable and unspectacular mass produced light lager, although with with no obvious flaws. Probably even rather nice under the hot Cuban sun.

UPDATED: DEC 28, 2017 0,33 l Dose. Goldenes Bier, stabile weiße Krone. Riecht erdig, muffig.

Tasted on 18.11.17. Almost completely disappearing head. Clear light golden colour. Metallic aroma with hints of malt. Dry body with minimal maltiness and some hoppy but not very good quality bitterness.

Dec. ’16. Thanks mum! A 0.33 l can that poured a yellow body with medium sized head. Hay and lemon in aroma. Flavor lightly bitter, metallic and sour, not much of anything really. Grainy-hay driven lager without any joy in it. Thin, empty bodied with lightly sour (corn maybe?) finish. Utterly boring and unenjoyable.

(Backlog rating from 2015) Can... Clear straw-colored pour with a fizzy, brief, white head. Aromatically, this is clean, but muted and practically non-descript. Light-bodied with fizzy carbonation. This is crisp and fairly clean in both the flavor and the finish, but also thin and quite mundane. Not glaringly adjunct-laden. Refreshing. Not bad for what it is and it’s from Cuba!!! I’m glad the pointless USA/Cuba embargo is no more. Can courtesy of landhoney! Brought back from his vacation in Cuba to share with the south Florida crew! Next up: Cuban rum and Cuban beaches. Cuban cigars? Been smoking them for years. I love 'em. Those rolled in the Dominican Republic are nearly as good. Just an FYI to those in the USA who hit a cigar shop and only have a choice between Dominican and Honduran.

Palma Cristal, Botella de 0,35l Color dorada con espuma escasa que desaparece en seguida.Aroma malta, cereales, maiz. Sabor malta, cereales, maiz. Nada especial

YantarCoast (1625) - Moscow, RUSSIA - OCT 9, 2017
350ml bottle (as Palma Cristal) from Beers of Europe. Pours pale yellow with a small white head. Aroma is almost non-existent, there’s some corn there, that’s about it. Taste is also extremely bland... corn, water, malt. Rubbish.
