Double Dry Hopped Barley Wine
To mark this momentous occasion we have been busy brewing up a massive flavoured beer to suit. There was one obvious beer for the choice, A Double Dry Hopped Barley Wine weighing in at 9%abv. Using only the single hop that got me into hops, this beer is rigorously hopped with the awesome Columbus from North America. A colossal amount of British Maris Otter along with some sweet crystal malt provides a really big base for this beer.

HogTownHarry (7064) - Toronto (Harbourfront), Ontario, CANADA - JUL 23, 2017
December 4, 2014 - with blankboy, gregclow, jercraigs and mabel - 500ml bottle. Slightly hazy amber-gold with an average beige head. Really dig that aroma - resin, alcohol, and tons of fruity malt - not overwhelmingly sweet - I get mango, dried apricots and figs (8+). Taste follows - a little more sugary than the aroma - a little overpowering with the alcohol, like boozy/bitter Christmas cake (7+). Slick, mild carbonation - finishes fruity/malty and a little squeaky from the alcohol. Ticked my boxes - would have again.

[Bottle (500ml) shared with HogTownHarry, GregClow, jercraigs & mabel -- c/o j&m] Pours a hazy orange-amber with an average size diminishing bubbly off-white head. Nice aroma, malty and hoppy along with some fruit. Flavour’s the same, malty, hoppy and fruity but adds some toffee. Hoppy finish. Alcohol is well hidden. Pretty good stuff.

2014-12-04. Lightly hazy dark copper-brown body with a tiny beige head. 3+ Aroma is quite malt forward, caramel and fruit, raisins and figs. 7++ Flavour is similarly malt forward, moderate alcohol character gains traction in the finish, amplified by the bitterness of the finish. Average plus bodied palate, light carbonation. 3+ Solid, it shows the booze just a bit more than my preference but is still pretty nice. Bottle from Valhalla’s Goat, Glasgow
