Cask conditioned at The Castle Tap, Reading, Berks. Black with beige head. There is a sweetish chocolate character to this from the off, roasty malts, some caramel. There are cereal notes later, earthy, leafy. Its fine.

Bottle at home. Bought at BOB Wines, Sydenham. Roast malt choco aroma. Oil black. No head. Initial sweetness before a sour bitterness kicks in. Chocolate, malts and sour fruit and sour milk. Pretty light. Long semi-dry finish Not keen on the sour milk.

Cask handpump, The Hop Pole, Aylesbury, Thursday 28 January 2016 Pours black with a light beige head, quite attractive looking beer. Some light chocolate on the nose, in the mouth it is a nice combination of chocolate a little roastiness (ash) and a nice lactose element. Very good beer. A6 A4 T7 P4 Ov14 3.5

Cask gravity at the 2015 London Drinker beer festival. Opaque black coloured pour with a lasting loose mid tan head. Aroma is nutty roast, coco powder, earthy notes. Flavour is composed of smooth semi sweet roasted grains, roasted nuts, little nice mint choc chip thing going on is good. Lingering roasted grains and dark malts. Palate is medium body, lowish carbonation, semi sweet in the finish. Pretty decent flavoursome porter. Lingering choc.

Cask at the Magpie, roasted coffee and a hint of cocoa on the nose, then a big roasty yet slightly watery body with tart fruity notes of sloe (sour plum). Dry-bitter roasty finish.

Cask @ the Magpie BRentford: my first god damn rate in God damn ages. A lovely mocha beige kinda head above blackness, pretty dark for a textbook porter. rich kiss of coffee dark chocolate roasted malt. pretty floral in the backdrop and rather dry. A pretty smooth and compact porter.

Gravity at the CPFC beer festival, 2013. Dark brown pour with a beige head. Christ Ive got to enter the digital rating world when Im out and about, my writings atrocious! Seemingly the aroma is toffee, dark plums?? or is it chocolate? has to be chocolate. Cant cope with this shorthand. Flavours of coffee and chocolate. Quite a sweet little number. Dry finish. Not too bad.
