Cask at the Railway, Putney. Pitch black, no real head. Aroma is coffee, chili spice. Body is medium, smooth, low carbonation. Taste is light malts, treacle, hot chili spice, peppery, long chili finish. Nice warming level of spice. mR_fr0g (12067) - Hertfordshire, ENGLAND - FEB 19, 2015
Cask at the moon under water Watford. Dark reddy brown / black coloured pour with a steadfast creamy tan head. Aroma is dark cocoa powder, dry roasted coffee, musty, sweet lactose. Flavour is composed of milky choc, roasted barley, smooth cream and then the heat kicks in, tingling on the lips and warming the back of the throat. Palate is full and milky, smooth, nitro feel. A little lactose sweetness. Lingering choc and earhy pepper. I like that this has a good chilli kick to it, but still has a good balance. Chilli choc works pretty well. Black with a decent tan covering.
Nose is chilli spice, green pepper, chocolate, charred notes.
Taste comprises quite a chilli kick, dark malt, dark chocolate, spice, earthy, molasses.
Medium bodied, fine carbonation, chilli burn in the close.
Pretty big chilli kick but overall a good balance, definately enough spice to tip away from porter as a style on this one! BeerViking (4783) - Brentford, Greater London, ENGLAND - OCT 1, 2014
Cask at the Magpie, near black with a tan head, nose is cocoa, a little forest fruit, and something vegetal. The chilli cuts in really fast, and without a balancing creaminess, although cocoa and fruit are still perceptible through the burn. evergreen0199 (3368) - Northwood, Greater London, ENGLAND - MAR 15, 2014
