COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
We at Crooked Stave find solace playing in the Colorado Mountains and possess a great pride for the place we call home. Paying homage to our great state and the even larger Western Region of the US, we brewed Colorado WildSage, a Brett Saison incorporating fresh herbs, including white sage and lemongrass. Brewed with the backcountry in mind, Colorado WildSage is dominated by a bright floral aroma, soft herbal notes and a crisp Brettanomyces bite from primary fermentation and further bottle conditioning with our house mixed yeast culture. Brewed with all Colorado ingredients in order to deliver a little bit of the high country to everyone who decides to share in this beer with us.

Pint Night at Pazzos. Aroma of fruit and sage. Taste is sweet with a sour finish. Getting a pitcher may have been a bit much at once.

375 ml bottle poured into a tulip. July 2015 edition. Clear golden straw yellow with a good two fingers of off-white head. Aromas of big sage, herbs, spice, some funk, light citrus peel. Tastes of sage, herbs, lightly tart acidic notes, light funk and oak. Medium body with a dry finish. Nicely done with the sage.

Off white airy head left a cover on a dark lemon coloured body - lots of sediment around. Very spicy & peppery aroma with lemon - smells like high quality lemonade! Thin bodied, very crisp on the palate. Clean on the back. On the very front its momentarily reasonably sweet with slightly tropical flavours, this quickly dissipates into a long tasting sour, tart affair with (strong) bitter lemon, herbs & Im definitely picking out the sage.

Sour fruity aroma, pours hazy light yellow. Little carbonation. Some yogurt funkiness in there, finishes tart and peachy. Not particularly alcoholic even though its 7.2% abv.

Bottle from CT beer store. Pour was a cloudy straw color with a huge generous white head, good retention, solid lacing. Aroma of sage and chamomile, bret, grass. Flavor follows, some dry bite, lighter fruits, lemon sourness, funk, oak. Mouthfeel full for the style and finishing pretty clean, nice faint hop dry bite, sourness lingers.

(bottle from 05-2015) Pours a semi-hazy gold color with a white head that possesses the consistency of lake foam and leaves solid lacing throughout. Aroma contains preserved Meyer lemons, funk, oak, vanilla, with little clean stabs of sage towards the back of the sniff. I feel my nostrils clearing a bit due to it. Flavor contains lemon custard, vanilla, oak, and sage, with the finish heavily veering towards more preserved lemon, white wine (pinot gris?), McDonalds hamburger bun, and lemon meringue pie. The mouthfeel is heavier than what Id like from the style, as its extra chewy and just sits on the tongue. For me, Id want a beer like this to be light, crisp, and zingy, but the mouthfeel regrettably lacks these components. Even though this beer was quite good, I think it would be even better if the abv were dropped.

Bottle from PhillyCraft. Thanks Vin! It pours a clear apple juice color with a white head. The aroma is strong with sage and a little green apple acidity with some toasted malt. The flavor is the same. Hints of peanut shells with nice green apple tartness. Strong sage throughout. It has a low herbal, phenolic finish. Pretty interesting stuff.
