Finally! I'm am so psyched to try a stave of quality that once was. No diacetyl. And so good.
A - pours a beautiful blackberry juice purple blue with very little head. S - such a nice nose. Funky fruity sweet berries and bell pepper. Much like a de garde. Cheese, yogurt, nice yeast, Brett's. Rose petals and bell pepper. The nose may be the best from stave yet. M - tart and sweet. Watery mf, no carb and a limp body. T - the taste is so subtle and delicate, follow the nose but adds. nice funky cheesy fruity goodness. Bell pepper and blackberry jam lead the nose. Notes of lemon juice, powdered sugar, rose petals, dusty Brett's, and a note of prickly pear tuna and dragon fruit. O - maybe the second best stave our there (after persica b1) truly. The the lack of carb does take away a little, from an otherwise fantastic beer. TXBadger (2811) - Dallas, Texas, USA - MAY 27, 2014
Had at a share: pours a raspberry like red with pink head. Raspberry, tartness, blackberry, and oak on the nose; follows onto the palate. Finishes tart and dry. Dogbrick (14290) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - MAY 8, 2014
Sample at Kurtkeller 011: Crooked Stave-tastic 01 on 05/02/2014. Hazy purplish-amber color with a medium pinkish-white head that burns away steadily. Short strings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of berries, oak and yeast. Light to medium body with a barnyard character and flavors of blackberry, funky yeast and malt. The finish is moderately tart with a berry and oak aftertaste. Pretty good overall. GranvilleTim (1857) - Granville, Illinois, USA - APR 19, 2014
Thanks Dakine! Red/purple pour with a thin white head. Aroma is sourness and oak. Taste is sour, oak/dryness. It has a refreshing and cleansing mouth feel. Little sweetness from the blackberries in the background. Layered, complex and tasty. Yum! MacBoost (1957) - Victor, New York, USA - APR 18, 2014
Pours a purple color with almost no head. Aromas of oaked funk, sour berries. Taste is dry and sour. Not bracingly bitter, but it has a nice little bite. Flavors of unripened blackberries, oak and moss. Decent carbonation leaves a slight prickle on the tongue. Finishes sweaty and dry. Did this side by side with Almanac Farmer’s Reserve Pluot and this beer lost hands down.

At my place with Taylor, Matt, Jacob. Pours rose red, almost no head. Aroma is tart, raspberry, jammy plumb, beautiful soft fruit flavors that are awesome. Taste is beautiful refined raspberries, blackberries, tang, hint of orange, very low acidity that makes it really drinkable. soft and awesome, love it. Bottle at Mikkeller&Friends - Thanks. Cloudy dark red - white head. High blackberries. Acid. Zesty. Citrus. Light malty. Spicy. Lots of dark berries. Oakey dryness. JBPortland (1574) - Hampton Roads, Virginia, USA - MAR 30, 2014
375ml bottle pours hazy pinkish violet with 1 finger head. Nose is musty tart berry and dusty barrel funk, oak, wine. Taste is tart crisp blackberry, grape, woody funk, musty wet barrel. Finish is tart with semi-sweet juicy berry notes and dusty wood, great funk. Fantastic! dfroms (477) - Brooklyn, New York, USA - MAR 26, 2014
Bottle via jbeatty, thank you! Pours a gorgeous blueish purple, like blueberry kombucha, with just a few bubbles. Aroma is lemon, muted blueberry, stone-fruit acidity, cinnamon. Taste is lemons and blueberries with minerality and a quick finish. Somewhat watery mouthfeel. Good but nowhere near the best I’ve had from Crooked Stave. jkwood04 (5472) - Connecticut, USA - MAR 22, 2014
375ml bottle in a tulip. Pours purple with an off-white head. Aroma of sourness/tartness, light oak, some blackberries, pale malts, and some fruits. Flavor the same with a cool blend. Average texture. A really good beer.
