Fruity citrus notes present up front with moderate sour taste. Figs and cherrys evident. Sour after taste, but not over powering. Easily drinkable beer.

8.92 %abv on the label of my bottle.
Pours really dark reddish brown, lots of off white foam, admirable lacing.
Smells tart like sour cherries, maybe plums, acetic acid, yeast, hints of Brett but very mild hints.
Sour cherries for sure, a bit acetic, yeasty, somewhat oaky, can't really taste any funk.
Body approaches full and the carbonation is up there.
A pleasing sipper. SinH4 (7034) - Garching b. München, GERMANY - SEP 7, 2017
Bottle, many thanks Thomas Schneider! Hazy brown color with tiny beige head. Aroma is candy, brown sugar, chocolate, barrel sugar. Taste is the same. Medium carbonation. Ok, but not excellent. JBPortland (1582) - Virginia, USA - SEP 4, 2017
375ml bottle pours dark rusty brown red with finger of head. Interesting beer, mostly has Quad characteristics, dark fruits and plum, raisin, red berry, medium high acidity in the taste, finishes with a lactic sourness and red grape lip smacking fruit. notalush (6002) - Lakewood, Colorado, USA - SEP 4, 2017
Bottle - dark ruby with no head - nose of raisins, figs, red wine, oak, acetic acid - assertively acidic in a way that somewhat swallows the other nuances of the beer (red grapes, raisin, plum), but those are still pleasant and enjoyable - a balsamic vinegar quality - well-hidden alcohol - decent.

Cimnoczerwony kolor, dość klarwone. Wspaniała, bujna żółto-kremowo piana. Cały czas wisi nad piwem, mnóstwo krążków.
W aromacie dużo ciemnych owoców: wiśnie, czereśnie, aronia. Odrobina stajni w tle.
W smaku powtórka z aromatu. Sporo ciemnych owoców, głównie wiśnie, ale jest i winny posmak i odrobina ciemnych winogron. W kontrze akcenty skórzane, stajnia, siodło. Umiarkowana tekstura i wysoka pijalność.

December 30th, 2014 - Today is a day of luxury, as I move onto my third Crooked Stave beer of the session. Dark in its glass, the beer looks still and contemplative, while the had is smeared and smattered along the glass’ edge, a constellation of bubbles and foam. Hints of balsamic aroma touch the nose, with a little red wine and a nice umami funkiness. A shred of citrus is evident, too, giving the aroma all kinds of components, working in a brilliant symphony. The palate (though this is a physiologically unsound claim, given the greater sensory sophistication of the nose) seems more complex. Here’s a small shopping list of what I taste: blackberries, honey, mead, apple, grape, parmesan cheese and white grapes. The flavor is so good, so busy, so sharp, it makes my salivary glands hurt - in a good way.
