Beaver (1906) - Fort Collins, Colorado, USA - JAN 19, 2016
12.7 oz bottle, 3-4 years old. Pours slightly hazy dark gold with a small white head that quickly goes to a thin collar.

The aroma is sweet grapes and dry white wine with a little tartness and funk.

The flavor is sweet fruit (grapes and apple) with a lot of tart lactic sourness and a little funk and some vinous notes. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with low carbonation.

Overall, a nice sour.

Bottle. Cloudy pee-gold, with many small white floaters and a thin, short-lived head of white film. Funk and vinegar in the nose, alongside lemon, pear and white grapes. a slight, biting bouquet. More acidic than a lemon shotgun to the face. Vinegar, lemon peel, grass, a splash of pear. The swallow delivers a powdery blast of tartness like a lemon warhead. Something like cinnamony apple cider appears at the finish. Wine-like body. Good thickness, a little oily. Very subdued carbonation, with a huge tart bite. Crazy-sour and very tasty, but maybe a bit lacking in complexity. Good if you need to wake up in the morning.

Bottle thanks to Rick. Pours a cloudy orange with small frothy white head. The aroma is strong oak and grape skin. Thin mouth with nice sour grape, wine, oak, tart finish. Really enjoyed this one.

bottle shared by tom10101, thanks bro. hazy golden pour with a small white cap showing some retention and lacing. honeyed maltiness - slightly doughy, spicy and tingling acetic, sour apricots and small yellow fruits, but grapes?, spices, vinous character - although i must admit this seemed more like a red than white barreling. moderate carbonation, light to medium body - oily and a bit sticky, fairly tart if not sour grassy-spicy and lightly astringent finish.

Bottle (375 ml). Thanks to Mark for this one! Slightly hazy golden with a small ring of white foam and little lacing. Aroma is acetic and buttery at fist, but it then settle down a little to let the fruit/peach notes, hay and oak take more place. Taste is of apricots/peaches with a medium/heavy acetic presence, light buttery notes, oak and hay. Medium body. Moderate carbonation. Dry finish. A tad mouth puckering. One of my least favorite from Crooked Stave. Lack of balance and depth. Quite unidimensional. Somewhat tasty, but certainly not easily drinkable.

Minderbinder (3468) - Québec, Quebec, CANADA - JUN 22, 2014
Bottle 375ml. Pours blond with no head. Minimal lacing. Aroma is of fruits, apricots, kerosen, alcohol. Taste is of acid acetic, bile, alcohol, sourness, fruits, apricots. Palate: Light-medium body. Soft carbonation. Overall: Too acid. Stomach burns (I ain’t no stomach burner usually). Mouth puckering. Good, but out of control in my opinion.

Pour is golden with a small rim that doesn’t leave much lacing. Nose is of sour fruits and vinegar, not offensive but pretty intense on the acetic side. Taste is indeed sour, acetic and hopefully offers some nice perfumey fruits flavors. It is a bit too acidic with a light body and medium-high carbonation. Overall an OK sour ale, a bit subpar for Crooked Stave so far because of all the acetic acid.

UPDATED: MAY 26, 2014 Bo ttle: pour is fairly cloudy medium golden with a very modest white head into this glass. It retains average/below average, with very sticky lacing. I admit: I had this after fuzzy. And while there are some interesting similarities, there are elements that don’t measure up as well. It starts off with a fairly subdued vinous, peach, stone fruit , with a light mineral presence. The flavor profile Is at once bitter sweet tart, lemon, very mild funk, moving to vinous earth, more mineral, but fading A touch into a more subdued baked bread, grass, lemon tart feeling. It’s a nice beer on this hot day for sure,

Bottle. Pours a pretty, hazy peach color with just a few white bubbles. Low carbonation. Aroma is pineapple, peach, white wine, almost lambic-like funk, some alcoholic heat, citrusy tartness. Taste is very vinous and lemony, with stone fruit and sweet malts fading into intensely lemony sourness and some acetic white-wine vinegar character. Almost a Basque cider quality. Lingering vinegary sourness. Good but a little unbalanced.
