From notes. Enjoyed at a tasting at Corbet’s house on December 21. 375 mL bottle. The pour is a medium brownish burgundy color with a thin tan head that disappears quickly. The aroma is pretty good. There is a lovely tartness to it and a lot of whiskey. A light vanilla exists, and there is an acidic fruitiness on the back end. It’s not too balanced, but there are a number of items there. The flavor is much more whiskey dominated. There is a woodiness and a decent acidity. The vinegar fades off a little and it’s almost got a light smoke. The mouth feel is a little thicker than I’d like with a nice carbonation and a decent fruitiness and heavy whiskey out the back end. It’s like a tart whiskey. Really interesting. baraciisch (3187) - California, USA - OCT 31, 2015
Enjoyed at Freetail Bottleshare 2015... Dark berries, nutty malts, leather, vanilla, whiskey barrel, deep sour complexity... Really good beer even better than original

At my place with Taylor on a Wed night. Thank you Stephen for being a badass and hooking me up with these CS bottles. Pours brown murky with no head. Aroma is sour medium plus acidity. Taste is dark complex sour, oud bruin but more sour and more subtle complex barrel notes. It is still a bug sour beer but has been mellowed out by the barrel aging. I love the original, but love this one even more. Awesome sour. Dr_Fellini (1020) - Norfolk, Virginia, USA - JAN 18, 2015
Bottle to glass. Pours a light to medium brown color with a thin tan head. Aroma is tart, sour grapes, light whiskey and smoke character. Flavor is moderately sour, slight funk. Oily body that lingers on the tongue. Another tasty sour from crooked stave. bursprak (3183) - Aarhus, DENMARK - DEC 29, 2014
Bottle from a trade. Hazy burgundy pour with tiny lacings on top. Nose is tart, leather, vanilla and some red berries. Complex taste, medium tartness, some vanilla sweetness and light juicy berry finish. Easy drinkable. I don’t pick up notes from the whiskey barrels though.

Sample at Kurtkeller 011: Crooked Stave-tastic 01 on 05/02/2014. Pours a murky copper-brown color with a medium thin off-white head that dissipates steadily. Short strings of lacing on the glass. The aroma consists of tart berries, caramel, oak and bourbon. Medium-bodied with vinous and cherry notes and oaky bourbon and caramel malt flavors. The finish is tart fruits and subtle bourbon. Good beer all around. JBPortland (1543) - Hampton Roads, Virginia, USA - MAY 3, 2014
