On tap at The Source. Pours a clear brown with beige head that diminishes to nothing. The aroma is strong oak, whiskey, spice. Medium mouth, light oak, roast, nice tartness, boozy finish, very nice. Mep3222 (1636) - East Greenbush, New York, USA - MAY 20, 2015
Roasted chocolate malt aroma with slight lactic sourness. Taste is cocoa and dry roasted maltiness with a nice lactic sour. Maybe 5 of 10. Get some nice whiskey aromas and flavors but they are muted by the strength of the malt. Really malt dominated actually, with of course much sourness. Bit of a bitter funky finish. Very nice beer. Complex and great.

Tap at Source. Said Leopold Bros. so believe this is the right listing. Nose is muted, some dark roast malts, light oak, light funk. Fairly flat, some dark sweet malt, tart finish, light oak, not much bourbon. Need to revisit. Think I was maybe palate fatigued after motif and others. Wasn’t bad, just not a lot going on. Draft on tap at The Source (Denver, CO). Pours a deep blackish hue, opaque and dark, just a kiss of brownish glow on the edges. Frothy tannish head on top dies to a small ring, laces small overall. Aromas are a bit sweet, carmelized malts, whiskey and vanilla with some sweetness, oak, gentle sourness. Dark fruit, dried fruit, toastiness. Mellow Tootsie Roll, cobwebs. Initial is a bit firmer in body, distinct caramel and brown malt influence with a firmer sourness than the nose let on. Oak, vanillin, gentle spirit. Whiskey, spice, smoothed out sour red fruit, black cherry and and berry. Firmer sourness starts to grow, rich lactic presence, some rich berry and cherry, oak, tannic barrel, some touches of warmth, some toffee, toast and brown malt. The whiskey barrel gives a bit of life but lactic sourness really takes control. Finish is is dry, a bit toasty and carmelized with firm yogurty and sour red fruit, citric acid finish. Nice stuff. The gentle vanillin and whiskey influence compliments well, never overwhelms. Nice. Nose a bit sweeter, not letting on to the beer’s lures. Dogbrick (13763) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - OCT 7, 2014
Sample at The Source. Pours dark brown with a medium light beige head that diminishes gradually. Strings of lacing on the glass. The aroma is oaky with notes of dark malts and fruit. Full-bodied with a boozy character and notes of charred malt, vanilla and dark fruits. The finish is fruity with a whiskey and plum aftertaste. Pretty good overall. ajnepple (7059) - Denver, Colorado, USA - OCT 6, 2014
On tap at The Source. Brown/black appearance with a small beige head. Aroma of dark fruits, Belgian yeast, light vanilla, esters, sour notes, light funk and a touch of alcohol. Similar flavor, fruity, tart and strong with a light sour finish. Pretty smooth and tasty. kevinator (2717) - The Colony, Texas, USA - OCT 3, 2014
Nice spin on a quad. Sour esters and spiciness mixed with alcohol. Soft brown color with an equally soft foamy head. Nice soft palate without too much weight. Soft sour up front with a roasted flavor followed by oak and whiskey. Great finish. jcnielsen (3416) - Charlotte, North Carolina, USA - OCT 12, 2013
Sampled on tap at The Source. Pours a brown color with white head. Brown sugar, dark fruits, sour flavors. Interesting.
