Pours deep orange with a glow. Aromas of spice, citrus, and bourbon. The taste is bitter, sour, grapefruit, and orange juice. Strong carbonated bitter mouthfeel. Very good.

Bottle pours with a clear copper body that has gold hues and supports a short lived bright white head. The aroma offers spicy oak mixed with soured citrus and then light notes of basement stored cheesy funk. Cool. The taste begins with tartness that seems to be edged with a soft vinegar note and spicy oak wood nuanced tart citrus. Every sip this thing grows on me as my palate makes a few calculated adjustments. It ends on the dry side with lingering tartness.

375ml bottle shared with Ashton. Ta muchly. Hazy orange pour, peachy aromas, plus yoghurt. Sour taste, more yoghurty notes. Can’t get oak or saison. Nice beer though. AshtonMcCobb (6609) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - JAN 24, 2014
Bottle from cthomas2390.
Appearance - cloudy golden-orange with a nice thin layer of lace.
Nose - canned peaches not a lot of spice.
Taste - more canned peaches, sourness kicks in cleans your palate, then a touch of peach melba yoghurt at the end.
Palate - medium bodied with a tangy texture and a very sour clean finish.
Overall - lovely beer but almost like the yeast does too much to be typical of a saison. The general spice note is missing. FlacoAlto (4182) - Tucson, Arizona, USA - JAN 23, 2014

A steady pour into my large Tripel Karmeliet tulip produces a one-fingerr thick, light tan colored head. The beer is a ruddy amber color that shows a hazy, pale amber / gold hue when held up to the light. The aroma has a musty, lightly funky, woody oakiness, and light fruit character that is first noticeable. There is a touch buttery oak here, a funky mushroom notes mixes with a musky, ripe, artisanal cheese, and there is a touch of pear like fruitiness that lightly scents the finish at times. The aroma is really nice and funky, but in an integrated, balanced way.
Lots of pear, soft lemon like citrus character, chewy whole grain brown cracker flavors, and a bit of bitter hop bite in the finish. The body has a certain fullness to it, without making it overly heavy, and lots of this comes from a textured, woody, tannic fullness that comes from the oak character. There is a solid mustiness to this beer, perhaps a hint of muskiness, a soft buttery note, and a touch of woody mushroom character. The mustiness and a bit of funkiness somehow combines with something else, perhaps some hops, to provide a touch of orange like character here.
the funkiness is not as noticeable in the flavor as it is in the aroma; this would have made the beer perfect, but this is still damn good and quite a bit more enjoyable than I was anticipating. Still, I am not quite sure if I prefer this or the Vieille Artisanal more, which was note quite as funky.
UPDATED: APR 11, 2015 Pours hazy orange with minimal white head. Aroma of apricot, peach, bretta, honey. Taste is tart with a slightly wood like sweetness towards the finish. Body is light and crisp with average carbonation.

Sour smell, slightly strong but not footy. Golden and thick looking. Taste is like chewing spice leaves, maybe sage or pine.
