Vieille meaning “Old” is our artisinal barrel-aged Saison, lightly dry hopped. Each batch release is a diverse blend of Vieille casks that have taken on a soft Brettanomyces character before being lightly dry hopped. Dominated by a floral, citrusy hop character, a subtle herbal note and a tart finish, Vieille’s character exemplifies artisan Saisons.

375ml bottle pours out a hazy straw color topped with a small white head. Nose is vinegar lots of citrus notes oak barrel. Taste is more of the citrus zest twist a tart vinegar bite and the oak.

(bottle) Pours a cloudy yellow color with a fast dissipating white head that forms a thin ring around the tulip glass. Aroma contains an initial punch of oak and peach with an herbal undertone (I think lemony thyme), and a floor of funk. Slight vanilla and lemon custard. Flavor contains plenty of lemon, mineral water, oak, that finishes with a quick bitterness and lingering oak. This sounds simplistic, but everything works here. Mouthfeel is medium and carbonation is sprightly. Normally I wouldn’t have bought this due to the price, but I picked this up on a discount price ($5.99) and I’m glad I did.

Bottle to glass. Aroma is lemon and mild funk. Slightly hazy yellow orange pour. Small white head. Refreshing tart flavor, white bread, , dry lemon, light yeast. Light body, moderate carbonation, brief tart finish. Little hop character to speak of. Light and easy.

UPDATED: AUG 14, 2016 Aroma of heavy vinegar, faint grapes, ripe pineapple. Really sour vinegar, brett, armpit and nothing else. Sad if you think this is what a saison should be. Light white wine and water finish. Well, this was a massive let down. No pepper, no lemon rind, no sweetness from the yeast, no dry hopped taste, just a white wine and vinegar drink. Hugely over rated.

Cloudy yellow beer with smallish head on top. Aroma has lots of citrus, grapefruit and lemon zest with some yeast and sourness. Taste has a lot of lemon zest, then turns into sour with fruity notes and citrus. I was hoping for some barrel notes though. Very light body and high carbonation. Very zesty and tart beer but damn good.

375ml bottle at Eronel. Hazy yellow-tan body. Thin, patchy, creamy, white head. Funky sour acetic notes. Light enough on the palate that it works quite well for the style. Lemon lime tanginess. Smooth golden malt. Steady sour barrel notes. Really quite excellent, sublime. One of the best US Saisons I’ve had. Phenomenal.

Very well balanced saison. Just enough tartness and citrus. A bit more brett flavoring which is tasty for me. Good palate & savoring finish. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Poured from a 12 OZ bottle into a pint glass at the World of Beer in Columbia, SC. The appearance is a light golden color with a medium sized white head. The aroma is fruit and wood. The taste is slightly tart.

BlackHaddock (7518) - Shropshire, ENGLAND - JUL 20, 2016
Shared bottle in La Cervecita Nuestra De Cada Dia, Barcelona on 8th July 2016 with the RBESG guys. Poured light golden yellow with a white head. Aroma was of citrus fruits and wood. The fruity taste was also citrus led with a mixed basket of flavours which had some herbal notes as well. Twiggy and gooseberry ’ish’ sums the brew up nicely. Different and interesting, but ’um’.
