Vieille meaning “Old” is our artisinal barrel-aged Saison, lightly dry hopped. Each batch release is a diverse blend of Vieille casks that have taken on a soft Brettanomyces character before being lightly dry hopped. Dominated by a floral, citrusy hop character, a subtle herbal note and a tart finish, Vieille’s character exemplifies artisan Saisons.

Bottled (thanks fonefan!). Hazy orangeish golden colour with a mediumsized foamy white head, which leaves some lace. Aroma is kind of funky with a nice farmyardy and spicy edge to it. Also some nice citrus as well as some mild grainy notes (grainy in a good way). Flavour is dry wooden along with some slight brett, mild citrus as well as some herbs and mild sap and tartness. Really gentle and pleasant to drink. Nice carbonation level too. Wellbalanced and refreshing. Good sipper, which goes down surprisingly easy.

Tasting at Bruce’s Pad. Cheers to Leighton for this one. Lightly hazy gold beer with a little white head. Palate is light and airy with a mild minerally crispness. Nice lemon sherbet here! Touch of floral character. A little dry seltzer before the semi dry finish. Good stuff.
