Cask conditioned - handpump - New Inn, Cropton. I ordered this before I noticed the ABV. I was supposed to be driving, but fortunately Clare took the wheel. Had I noticed the ABV, I’d have ordered it anyway as an 8% beer is a treat when you don’t have to drive. Amber with a white head and lacing. A strong boozy nose with fruits and malts. Sadly the head does stifle those aromas. Lovely and full in the mouth. A great balance of malts and hops. Nice friuits and super alcohol. Very smooth palate. Full bodied and bloody tasty. cgarvieuk (26422) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - AUG 21, 2008
Bottle at home Thanks to Fin for this ... amber ... light metalic hop ...sweet rich toffee malts ... little metalicness... some citrus in the background ... some nice resiny tones... decent depth and complexity of flavour... not a stunning beer but tasty enough... saying that this grew on me as i got through it. A good reason not to sample from 100ml :-) upping from 3.3 to 3.6 bhensonb (15985) - Woodland, California, USA - SEP 26, 2010
Bottle from Malt & Vine. Pours dark hazy amber with a coarsely foamy 3 finger beige head. Aroma is a mix of honey, cooked raisins, brown sugar and perhaps citrus. Quite a mixed nose. Full bodied with creamy carbonation. Flavor is slightly toasted brown sugar, some darkish fruit, and I’d say citrus. It’s changing from sip to sip - it has a fresh aspect - fresh cooked fruit? not raw fruit. That honey nose is off and on. Not the best ale inthe world, but rewarding. (Cask at White Horse, Parson’s Green, London, 27 Nov 2010) Dark amber colour with brief head. Malty, fruity nose with notes of dried fruit, orange, toast and marmalade. Malty, fruity taste with dried fruit, citrus, orange marmalade and generous amounts of citrussy hops in a bittersweet finish. More than medium body, with some malt sweetness throughout. Good balance between the citrussy hops and the solid malt backbone. Very nice. Papsoe (25054) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - APR 15, 2011
Bottle 50 cl. Courtesy of fonefan. Clear amber with a small off-white head. Fruity nose with a little sweaty feet hops. Solid body, amazingly complex and tropical fruitiness, lots of apricot. Some phenols too though. Some warming alcohol in the finish. 150411

Clear medium yellow amber color with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate to light light heavy malty, caramel, dried fruit - tropic fruit, light to moderate hoppy, orange - citrus, light alcohol. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration, anis seed - licorice notes. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.
8.0% murky brown colour with a thin head, caramel malt aroma, strong fruity caramel malt taste, nice but too strong for me. joergen (29625) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - AUG 15, 2010
