3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
conditioned bottle: poured black with tap head that foamed for a while but quickly turned into a thin film. Strange smoked beer notes in the aroma, definitely caught a little bacon along with the other roasted notes. Taste was a bit weird too. The roasted notes were a bit acidic and had notes of a smoked. Palate was pretty thin. But still not the worst I’ve had, still drinkable, but not really worth getting
500ml bottle - black body, tan head. Bit thin and dull on the taste, but drinkable. An above average beer, but below average stout. Beerona97 (2399) - Washington, USA - MAY 23, 2012
Black with a thin tan head. Aroma of tart unripe fruit, some chocolate. Taste is lightly tart with an ashy bitterness. Interesting flavor and not in a good way. deanso (10287) - Chiang Mai, THAILAND - MAY 9, 2012
Decent off=white head. deep ruby pour. Nice smooth stout taste. BBB63 (6567) - La Porte, Indiana, USA - JAN 27, 2012
Bottle and served in no-nik pint glass: Pours a deep brown with an initial huge frothy head that almost looks nitro poured, outstanding lace on the glass. The aroma has notes of roasted coffee, toasted bread, biscuity grains, some herbal and grassy hop vapours, with a hint of chocolate and leather earthy esters. There also is some lactic acid which is worrisome. The taste is not overly complex but does show some nice roast and toast character along with a nice EKG and Challenger hop finish. A tad ashy and hints of cold coffee. The mouth feel is very smooth and very easy to drink. A solid enough session stout, one step up from a dark mild. Bottle. Pours near opaque with a large, creamy tan head, long retention with fair to good lacing. Aroma is light smoke, dark fruits, roast and nutty malt, light earthy and woody hops. Flavor is moderate malt, dark and nutty, light hops and little to no bitterness, dark fruits and a dry finish. Light body, low warmth, and medium carbonation.

Bottle at home. This beer doesn’t seem very interesting after first couple of mouthfuls, but then it opens up a bit. Dark malts, dark chocolate, coffee are all there in the flavour but the beer’s dryness almost doesn’t want to relinquish them to you, although they all seem to there at the front of the mouth when you drink. Mouth feel is a little thin. It’s a bit too gassy. It has a refined, dry, bitter, short-medium finish which is probably its best quality. UPDATED: SEP 28, 2011 Bottle at home in London. Pours a clear, cola brown with a small, off-white head. Sweet, mild chocolate aroma with light lactic notes. Light cocoa roast flavor, light burnt sugars, some ash. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Pretty bland finish, faint ashes and leaves, bit of roasted malts. Just drinkable. 500mL bottle. Poured clear medium brown with a short, looser-bubbled beige head. The aroma picked up milk chocolate-covered biscuits accented by light earthy notes.. picked up some vanilla on the back.. sweet overall and well presented. The flavor found the same milk chocolates, but it lacked a bit of substance.. light roasted barley and coffee ground bitterness on the edges.. milky chocolate finish.. decent stuff. Lighter-bodied and dry on the palate.. not quite watery, but not substantial.. well-balanced.. drinkable. bhensonb (15985) - Woodland, California, USA - OCT 6, 2010
500 bottle from Malt & Vine. Pours really dark brown with a foamy 2 finger darkish tan head. Smells like stout! Medium body with sharp, foamy carbonation. Flavor is smooth burnt malt with some chocolate and coffee. Maybe a little dark fruit. Finishes smooth, dry and somewhat bitter. Put it in a scotch barrel for 2 years! fonefan (52426) - VestJylland, DENMARK - SEP 18, 2010
