On draught at the brewpub. Arrived black with a moderate light brown head that left a solid coating of foam on the glass with each sip. Pleasant aroma of coffee along with some mild roast. The flavor is malt with some mild roast and coffee. Mild bitterness at the finish. Fairly smooth on the palate. Full bodied. Mep3222 (1531) - East Greenbush, New York, USA - JAN 23, 2014
Nice roasted malt aroma. Flavor is a full flavored stout. Mostly roasted malt, some coffee flavors, no smokiness. Enjoyable stout.

Draft at the brewery. Pours dark brown with a frothy tan head and lots of lacing. Tastes like roasted coffee, creamy, but watery and a burnt dull flavor. Light body and carbonation. Smells like smokey roasted coffee and burnt toast. sonnycheeba (5961) - Federal Hill, Baltimore, Maryland, USA - DEC 23, 2013
Tap at brewery. Pours deep, dark brown with creamy beige head. Aroma is chocolate and roast malts, light prunes, and light earthy notes. Flavor is dry roast malts forward with some earthy hop bitterness, light ash, and faint dark fruit sweetness; dry finish. Medium body and carbonation.

Deep brown color with a light brown head. Very roasty with some nice hints of prunes and espresso. Carbonation was a bit prickly, but still a nice stout. Drchesteradk (21) - Albany, New York, USA - MAR 18, 2013

In short: A superior roasted stout marred by excessive carbonationUDBeernut (2883) - Saint Johns, Florida, USA - JUN 1, 2012
How: Tap at Tap-NY 2012
The look: Black body topped by a small tan head
In long: Nose is typical roasted coffee beans with some herbal notes. Taste has the basic elements I hope to get in a non-fruity roasted stout. Roasted coffee beans, burnt toasts, some bitter black chocolate, light vanilla notes. Then there’s a decent amount of herbal hops. Almost everything was perfect in this beer, almost. Unfortunately the batch I tried was marred by an excessive carbonation and almost had a soda-pop mouthfeel. This added a bit of astringency. With a proper carbonation to make this beer creamy I suspect this could be a seriously kick-ass stout. Hopefully will try again. I’d hate to be Black Rock, and have to come home and explain to my kids how I got beat by white Paper.
Now this is a beer. Deep dark murky brown, tan silk head with retention and lacing. Roast and chocolate nose. Big malty body feature roast, chocolate, light smoke. Hops and bitterness are they but don't interrupt the malt explosion. Nice. GRM (4014) - Aylmer, Quebec, CANADA - MAY 23, 2012
