Complex wee beast, starting with a pine & tropical hop aroma that fairly quickly dissipates and the malt kicks in. Chocolate, coffee and a hint of clove & licorice as it warms. Good times. Bottle from Hopscotch in Mt Eden Skarecrow (986) - North Shore, Auckland, NEW ZEALAND - JUL 5, 2016

OK, now this is more like it !!
Malty fruit aroma - also sweet biscuit notes.
Pours black with tan head.
Upfront bitterness with a lingering hoppy finish.
All in all not too bad at all.
from bottle that poured an impressive not quite solid black & frothy with a hoppy tropical fruity aroma this tastes really good full of hops & fruity roasty coffee flavours luvly blipp (9794) - La Mesa, California, USA - OCT 9, 2015
Draft. Pours deep brown with a beige head. Fruity tropical hops, melon, pear, faint malty notes, a bit of roast, and moderate bitterness throughout. Easily the best of the Croucher lineup that I tried. Good stuff. Niksko (627) - Melbourne, AUSTRALIA - AUG 24, 2015
Pours black with a fluffy light tan head. Nose is tropical fruit juice. Mango, pineapple, passionfruti, guava. Also some roasted malt aromas, coffee, dark chocolate. Flavor is roasted malt, charcoal, ash, a little bit of tropical fruit, mango, passionfruit, pineapple. Finish is dark and roasty, coffee, charcoal, a little orange. Medium body, but not overbearing. Nice black IPA, love the blend of flavors. For me this is really well balanced between the malt and the hop flavors, but with a really interesting hop profile that lends interest and tastiness.

Bottle, big thanks to Wingmanwillis and his brother, split on the train to Windsor 17/03/15. Lagerboy (2239) - British Columbia, CANADA - OCT 5, 2014
Black with a decent tan cover that retains well.
Nose is light charr, pine, red berry fruit, raisens, spice, light cocoa, liquorice.
Taste is a little thinner than the aroma with pine needle, bitter tropicana, earthy hop, roasted tones, red berry tang.
Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close.
Respectable enough CDA.
500 ml bottle. Clear ruby hued deep dark brown, lasting tan foam. Aroma is caramel malt and citrus hop. Darker roasted charred caramel malt taste, citrus floral hop, hints of evergreen and licorice. Softer than average carbonation, medium bodied, moderately hopped. NFL (Not For Lagerboys) Crit (4065) - Surrey, British Columbia, CANADA - JUN 30, 2014
Deep brown,small tan head.Nose of dry malt,light alcohol.Undercarbonated palate of light roast,vague citrus hops, lightly tinny.Medium hop finish DKL (250) - NEW ZEALAND - MAR 20, 2014
A very dark beer with an interesting burnt hoppy aroma. Has the American citrus hops flavour that might be expected of a black IPA, but quite easy to drink, even refreshing. joe19612 (3110) - camberley, Surrey, ENGLAND - MAR 16, 2014
Tap at Brew Craft pub in Tauranga. Pours a deep black colour with a thin beige head, aroma is grapefruit and sweet malt, taste is roasted malt then some fruit with a dry finish.
