500 ml bottle. Pours black with light head. Aromas of spruce and dark, sour over-ripe fruit. Maybe a hint of chocolate. Definitely American hoppy flavors, grapefruit and pine, but lacking in malt to balance. Nice but not great. drpimento (3672) - La Crosse, Wisconsin, USA - FEB 3, 2012
A little hard to find; down a back street, but in a central downtown location. Super helpfull friendly staff. Cask conditioned ale. Lots of local micros of quality and good imports. Full service bar. Nice Ambiance; very comfortable, cozy. Food menu, including a great appetizer list, looks tasty. Prices are fair for the area. Good music in the background. Beer bottle chandeliers. Sports on flat screen tv. pintbypint (3671) - Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA - SEP 1, 2012
From a 500ml brown bottle. Blackish pour, tan head with nice creaminess. Mild lacing. Light roasty nose, aromatic NZ type hops with a white wine and grassy sharpness. Taste has bright grass and citrus with grapefruit hops. Mild malts. Finishes with decent bitterness, grassy hops linger. Dry end. A bit off centre for black ipa, but overalll really good. maneliquor (3514) - Perth, AUSTRALIA - JUL 1, 2011
Bottle from Mane Liquor. Pours jet black with a small beige head. Head dissapears quickly but leaves some nice lacing in the process. Some nice citrus and pine on the nose, mixing with roasted malts. Roasted malts override the hops a little in this one, which isn’t necessairly a bad thing if thats your thing. Pretty good beer and I would have again

The head is robust, the body black. It smells maltaromatic, hoppy intensive, a bit roasty. The taste is maltaromatic, roasty, hoppy, bitter, coffee-bitter, hoparomatic, bit creamy, very nice and delicious! special for just 5.5% 4.1 JanLaursen (3227) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - MAR 20, 2012
Bottle, 50 cl. Very dark brown with a decent beige head. Aroma is roasted malts, preserved dark fruits, fruity hops, faint notes of licorice. Flavor is medium sweet and heavy bitter, with citrusy hops and notes of caramel and licorice. Davros (3208) - Melbourne, AUSTRALIA - JAN 16, 2012
Pours black with ruby highlights and a large, lasting head.
Nose shows masses of hops, lots of fruit in there. Apples, peaches, passion fruit and pine. Underneath is softer roasted malt. Very nice!
The roasted malt is much more prominent as a flavour. The hops carry through too, with more fruity and honey notes followed by an aggressive piney and roasty bitterness.
Great moderately high carbonation, works perfectly! bluevegie (3073) - Perth, AUSTRALIA - JUN 26, 2011
Presented well in the glass, black with a mainly lasting head. Citrus, passionfruit then a bit of chocolate on the nose, which doesn’t too quite present itself as much in the taste, malts more into the play. Seems most everyone is trying this style nowadays. joe19612 (2964) - camberley, Surrey, ENGLAND - MAR 16, 2014
Tap at Brew Craft pub in Tauranga. Pours a deep black colour with a thin beige head, aroma is grapefruit and sweet malt, taste is roasted malt then some fruit with a dry finish.
