Can (big thanks to my friend Mike for getting this for me!); pours dark brown with a tan head; aroma of roasted malts and chocolate with some coffee and molasses notes; taste is light bitter with roasted malts, coffee, and a hint of chocolate; dry finish with some lingering roasted malt; just a touch thin but otherwise pretty good djd07 (15543) - Houston, Texas, USA - DEC 29, 2016
Tap at GABF. Pours a dark brown with medium tan head that lasts. The aroma is roast, cocoa, smoke. Medium body, roasted malt, light hop bite, linght dry finish, good. popery (2231) - San Francisco, California, USA - OCT 25, 2016
12 oz can. Very dark brown. Fizzy light brown bubbles dissipate completely within seconds. Appears thin. The aroma is chocolatey with a good dose of cola and a light metallic twang. Thin, simple caramel aroma. Weak caramel sweetness in the taste. Cola underneath. Mildly nutty. Sticky and somewhat cloying. Medium to thin body. Light herbal hop bitterness in the finish. Messy flavor without much satisfying roundness. hfmejias (1297) - Marshall, Minnesota, USA - OCT 15, 2016
12 Fl. Oz. Can. Poured deep brown, nice tan head and lots of lacing. Aroma of coffee and chocolate combined with some vanilla. Taste has roast noted some cocoa and coffee . Nice porter, some tartness to it; overall very drinkable and very enjoyable.

Draught at the Crow Peak Brewing Co, Spearfish, SD.
Dark reddish brown color with a tiny tan ring.
Toasted malt, some herbal notes and some sweetness in the aroma.
The flavor is toasted malt, licorice, medicine, sweetness and some herbal notes. A bit boring.

Aromas include a nice roasted coffee flavor, plus a bit of toffee and molasses. The hop presence is fairly light with resin and spruce aromas.
The color is black with a small off-white head.
The taste is a bit sweet which I felt worked well with the roasted coffee aromas. The bitterness is somewhat light which I feel is a weakness resulting in a lack of balance.
The body is medium, the texture is a little thin for a porter; the carbonation is average to just a tad soft. The finish is average to long in length.
Overall I like the roasted coffee and slight sweetness; however the hops are too subdued for a porter and the beer is a bit on the thin side for a porter. jb (3407) - Rochester, New York, USA - AUG 11, 2016
Pretty good and tastes better since it is from South Dakota. Thanks for trade Ron. Standard porter-ish comments apply here. A bit towards the gritty in the finish. Ron (4182) - Rochester, New York, USA - AUG 3, 2016
On tap at the Brewpub with Erica, Chris and Patty. Dark brown pour with a khaki head. Roasted malt, dark chocolate, and coffee grounds. Some ash, dark fruits, and earthy hops. Flavor is a touch bitter. Light sweetness, some ash, roast, and earthy hops. Coffee grounds, dark chocolate, and a touch of dark fruit. mrjaxson (618) - .08 Junction, Wisconsin, USA - JUL 9, 2016
Came out of the can with little pop and poured to a wisp of a head, but unleashed a nice combination of chocolate and coffee in the aroma. Body was light for a porter but good sweetness leading to a little bitterness on the finish was on target and tasty.
