Named for the ridiculous 4 foot dirt pile we had to put our brewery on to get us out of the FEMA-designated 100 year floodplain (no-one can remember this part of Spearfish ever flooding). This robust porter is black in color, is medium-bodied and has a rich, roasted malt flavor ending with a pleasing hop flavor and mild hop bitterness.

26/VIII/17 - 12Fl. Oz. can, shared @ RBBSG17 - BB: n/a (2017-1330) Thanks to Ryan for the trade!

Clear red brown beer, small creamy beige head, little stable. Aroma: pretty roasted, caramel, sweet, bit sugary, chocolate, very nice scent! MF: soft carbon, medium body. Taste: pretty roasted start, chocolate, bit hoppy, little sourish. Aftertaste: little sour, fruity, malty, little sweet, soft roast, quite some chocolate.

12oz can. Opaque brown-black body. Definitely some underlying oddness, but the heavier specialty malts sort of cover it up...well not really. Has that warming acidic stomach acid disgusting tone which just kills it. Like an infected Baltic Porter. Pretty bad.

Intense dark chocolate, cacao, charcoal. Clear, very dark brown, tiny, creamy, beige head. Light sweet. More dark chocolate, cacao, dark roast coffee, dark malts, soft carbonation, medium bodied. Decent. Keg at GABF17, Denver.

Pours very dark brown with a garnet hue. Light, toasty dark malt in the aroma with a hint of something kinda lactic. Has a nice dark breadiness to the taste but is sweeter than most porters. Slight burnt character. Little to no hop bitterness or flavor. Semi-full, slick mouthfeel. Finishes fairly dry. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Roast and some chocolate. Comes off a little light like khakis though. Black pour with decent head and lacing. Some caramel in otherwise bitter finish. Can.

A- Smoky, roasty, cocoa.

A- Brown color, dark liquid, tan head.

T- Smoke, cocoa, roasty.

P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, balanced finish.

O- Not bad for a plain jane porter. Nice flavor profile and thankfully not thin and watery.
