Bought a bottle at Crown while driving through the Point. Aroma wasn’t complex nor overpowering would agree with other reviewers. Malt was more nutty and had a roasted initial taste. Light in alcohol as well. Not a beer to search out, but not one to throw out either.
Tap at the brewpub. Standard brown ale - gotta have one, right? Slightly murky brown pour with a small foamy head. Mild nut and chocolate. Okay. queenholly (3623) - South Whitley, Indiana, USA - SEP 9, 2013
Draft sample @ Ft. Wayne Oktobeerfest. Nutty roasty caramel malt aroma. Deep amber with a large beige head. Nutty roasty caramel malt flavor. Light body, soft carbonation. Patrickctenchi (6550) - Cox’s Knob, columbus, Indiana, USA - JUN 12, 2013
Nearly clear.........woody brown.
Aroma is lightly nutty, malty.
Taste is light chocolate, nut, malt.
Nothing surprising, but good.

Draft. Light chocolate malt aroma. Brown with small head. Lightly fruity caramel malt flavor. Not bad. thedm (6143) - Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA - DEC 27, 2012
This draft brew from a beer festival poured a small sized head of frothy off-white colored bubbles that were mostly diminishing and left behind a uncarbonated cola brown colored body and a poor lacing. The initial nose was yucky and a strange brown malt. The mouth feel was mellow from start to finish with an off-tasting thick brown malt aftertaste. The flavor contained notes of brown malt. Not one that I would likely drink again. patrick767 (4063) - fort wayne, Indiana, USA - OCT 11, 2012
tap at Dash In - Pours dark and mostly clear amber-brown with a small off-white head. It has a mild caramel malt aroma. The flavor is sweet, mild, and bland. There’s a little caramel and in the finish some rather generic hop bitterness. It’s light to medium bodied and overall a disappointment. NobleSquirrel (3438) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - JUL 9, 2012
Draft at Crown as "Crown Brown." Pours a very nice coppery brown with a fluffy offwhite head. Nose is caramel and some burnt char notes. On tasting, moderate sweetness and caramel but the black patent or dark chocolate malt notes are off putting unfortunately. Hop bitterness is appropriate just overwhelmed by the dark roast notes. Sample at Twenty Tap in Indianapolis. Pours dark brown with a medium thin beige head that dissipates steadily. Spotty lacing on the glass. Aroma of caramel malt, roasted nuts and hops. Light body with a sweet malty character with notes of toffee and mildly bitter hops. The finish is malty with a short sweet aftertaste. Decent overall. Decent but nothing outstanding or particularly interesting. Light on aroma and flavor. Some roasted malts and caramel. Light on alcohol as well.
